Post-Game Talk: We’re all smilin with you tonight Stu

he's been healthy for weeks but Stech played a good first game back from injury as well. he's more of a hooper than Emberson. I'd say keep Stech over him in the lineup for sure. For Kaps he did good but Arvi or Skinner should get their looks again too

Runs right over Hill and even won his faceoffs.
The game stats of a guy who has ‘hit the wall’.
I swear to god, the next poster who doubts Evander Kane needs to get f***ing banished to CP. Never, ever doubt this man.

Or this team. How many lessons do fans need before they stop giving up on this group. Apparently a lot. Still can’t believe people wanted to trade Kane, should have your fan card taken away for even suggesting it.

Most people owe Stu an apology.

What a game. He needs to remain the starter
He played well tonight. The rest of the team playing really well had something to do with the win too. I don't agree that he should remain the starter. But they'll probably ride him now, for better or worse. I'm along for the ride in any case, but I remain skeptical of his ability to not singlehandedly lose games. That skepticism is eminently well founded. Go Oil

I’m weirdly biased because I know he’s mostly just a 7th defenseman on most teams.

But I have a soft spot for the guy. He’s has no fear and can move the puck. He also lets us roll all three d pairings

Oilers played great, and Stu was aggressive and sound tonight.

Never caught out of position, tracked the puck well, and the odd time there was a breakdown in front of him, he made himself square to the shooters and gave up no big rebounds.

He was steady, and steady Stu is our best Stu
I think the key was more that Skinner wasn't aggressive. He played a contained game. Staying in crease, no sprawling, no chasing out of position or diving at pucks. Of course tonight he didn't have to as the Oilers were containing well. But Skinner played the right game for the Oilers shutdown game that was happening tonight. This was the game he needs to package and put in a bottle. LESS is more. Just use your size and be square to pucks and shots. He was anticipating better. Giving himself time to control movement instead of losing angles.

By aggressive I meant, he played from the top of his crease, and looking big, rather than playing deep in his net where guys can pick corners on him
