Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers
WCSF

***Mod notes***

We understand this will be an intense series filled with emotions. We ask that you refrain from personal attacks towards others members, fans, and cities.

If you feel someone is baiting or trolling you, please report it rather than reply. Thank you.

McDavid barely talks to the officials. Not sure where that narrative is coming from, sounds like cope.

Probably the same place where the Canucks are the luckiest bunch of lucks to have ever lucked (did we mention they're LLLLLUUUUUUCCCCKKKKYYYY)? I dunno.

And things aren't looking fantastic for Vancouver with EP underperforming and Demko being out, but they also don't have the pressure looming over them to accomplish something.

Oilers can't really take much pride in winning the series, either, because it just goes into their 'they aren't a playoff team, ree' narrative, or acknowledge the Canucks are, gasp, a good team. Either way, it's win/win.

Good experience for our younger players, potential to go further and give that one guy with the Nirvana avatar a coronary.

Just to be clear you're arguing that statistics are the same as making shit up?

You don't do well for an entire season and win a playoff round by being hack frauds.

It's insane the complex Oilers fans have developed cos they lost 2 games at the start of the season by insisting Vancouver is, ackshully, trash.

The Oilers are a good team, but they aren't a perfect team. Same as the Canucks. There's no harm in acknowledging your opponents are good.

Seattle almost won 2 playoff rounds last year.

Crying to the refs constantly is for sure good leadership . McDavid may as well wear a pin striped shirt.
Why would he wear a pin striped shirt? Are you implying he's a referee? Do referees cry to each other to show leadership to one another?

This was a very poorly thought out burn.

Actually....I think it is equally reciprocated

I don't think anyone is saying that the Oilers are 'trash', but if it helps fuel the collective victim complex y'all have, cool, sure.

So the fact I am agreeing with you on the one point, but by suggesting it goes both ways you are suggesting there is a complex on MY part?? I recognized the ignorance that comes from my fanbases direction. The fact you can't? Telling.

Only my second post in this thread and already bowing out.

Too bad that after this series, the Canadian quest for the Cup will be down to one team now.

It's been 30 years and counting since a Canadian NHL team last won the Cup. And you'd have to say that the winner of this Oilers-Canucks series probably won't be favored to go all the way this year either.

By that point it's 1/4 odds and there should be no "easy" teams left. I think it will depend a lot on how this series goes... if one team really shows up and demolishes the other like 4 games to 1 and gets well rested, while Colorado and Dallas/Vegas slugs it out to 7 games and picks up a couple of injuries along the way, then you can't say either the Oilers or Canucks are staring behind the 8 ball really.

Eastern finalists I've no idea how that would be. It's kind of a crapshoot how the Finals go since inter-conference play isn't as frequent.

Hey, at least we can all point and laugh at the Leafs right guys?

You just love to see it.

Well this is a cesspool of toxic waste. Going to avoid. @Leonardo87, are we allowed to make another thread dedicated to fans of the teams that don’t want to antagonize each other and just enjoy the competition?

The league has eliminated fighting, so we do the fighting in a decades old forum because we're freaks. In all honestly, you're putting fan bases that just don't like each other in a playoff match up. This is going to be a fun series. IMO going to spark an even stronger rivalry in the future, since the Canucks and OIlers would have to meet each other everytime to get through the west.

But we now get Dangle pretending to be a fan of one of the two teams now

it would last about 3 to 4 posts before turning into this thread

I don't think many people care. It's either MY CANADIAN team wins or Not. It's a zero sum game, once your team is out people wish the other Canadian teams too fail as well. Except for maybe Winnipeg, everyone has a soft spot for the Jets.

I can't wait to see this 4 to 1 series. Vancouver actually thinking they have a chance is lol
Most fans I've seen (aside from the usual suspects talking smack in the main boards) are pretty sure Edmonton will win. They are the more seasoned playoff team with the best PP in hockey vs a 3rd string goalie.

But you gotta play the games, and anything can happen.
