Worst game of the series to attend a watch party for, I was expecting a loss but yikes.

It’s gonna be interesting to see if they rush Demko back

Surprised Tocchet wasn’t more upset during the presser, this performance was worse than their game 4 performance, probably the worst game of the playoffs for the Canucks, inexcusable.

Flush that one and get ready for game 7!

Besides the PK nothing really positive to talk about in that game....I hope they feel like they got a rest tonight because they played like they weren't trying. They should be fresh for Monday night!

It really comes down to the matchups. They have to be harder on McDavid/Draisitl/Bouchard. Even when it was looking like it wasn’t going anywhere this game they still should have been physical on them to wear them down.

Missed most of the game today, but looks like we got pantsed. Flush it down, on to the next one.

As much as everyone wants to shit on the effort today, I think a lot of people (particularly those who have never competed in anything at a really high level) have a hard time understanding how difficult the mental part of the game is.

If everything was just about "wanting it more" and "effort," there's no way there's this kind of game to game discrepency in results all series. Being able to channel a flow state where you're fully in the zone is insanely difficult, as is being able to play with that "back's against the wall" mentality every game.

Just look at the other side of the table - for all that went wrong today, we did the exact same thing to them game 5 (score didn't reflect it but it was 2-3 bounces away from that).

I have full faith in the boys to bring it on Monday, and I'm pumped to see them go at it. There's nothing better than game 7s in hockey.

Was there any doubt of the outcome of this game?

Not really and it should not have been too surprising that they would win.

A big question though is, Did they blow their wad?

Just for the younger folk, blowing the wad is a term from when guns were flint locks, the wad was a patch of cloth stuffed down the barrel with a lead bullet, shooting the wad meant out of bullets.
Sexually ..... a different meaning maybe? ;) ;)

Was this a game plan? Survive with limited injuries and no over playing of players. Survive to fight another day?

I think he just knew the team shit the bed big time and there’s nothing really to say, they should know it

Our PP looks very pathetic and can’t even setup. We have some of the best PP players in the world and need to make that click.

Just lost for words how they can trot out a performance like that in game 6, after playing a complete game in game 5

The short zone entries and the obvious passes back to hughes are so important predictable and the oilers are just waiting to pick it off. We can forecheck so dumping it in also fails. They need to carry it deeper into the zone and pull the coverage in more before setting up. It has to be hughes to do that. Only player that combines stick handling and speed. Once he makes the play he needs to stay at the circle and put Miller or ep on the point. Hughes does not have a credible point shot

Can only go to the “passenger” well so often. At this point its up to the player’s hearts to dictate performance

We need to shoot more. Players are overthinking against a putrid sieve goalie

Shoot the puck, crash the net, score greasy goals

They could fix it by being more fluid and having the forwards rotate to open up lanes inside on the slot, but nobody moves because God forbid Miller doesn't get his look on the left wall, or Pettersson doesn't break his stick trying a one-timer from the right circle. Everyone is like glued to their spot except Hughes, it seems beyond them to do anything more dynamic, they are over-reliant on Hughes puck carrying in from the blue line to setup chances.
The biggest issue with the power play is zone entries and winning puck battles to recover possession in the offensive zone.

The actual power play structure is of course an issue. But we are basically wasting 75% of each power play and our success rate would go up a ton if we just spent 50% more time in the offensive zone each power play.

People are just expecting this team to lose.

This is bulletin board material if there ever was one.

Should’ve channeled that into energy! But instead they completely took the night off. Flush out game 6, it’s behind us. Should’ve brought in a motivational speaker like a Tony Robbin’s type to really pump up the team pregame and every intermission. This is the time to lay it all on the line and play your hearts out.

tough game that got away from them. oilers found some jam at home facing elimination.

canucks have worked hard and earned a home game to decide the series. they would have taken that at the outset in a heartbeat.

After the lacklustre 1st period where it was 1-1 with 4 shots each. Was thinking how lucky the Canucks were starting that elimination game like that. Was expecting Tocchet to rip into them in the intermission and for them to seize the momentum in the 2nd, disappointing they came out with the same energy and squandered a terrific opportunity.
