If I’m Zadorov, I pay the fine in pennies

So General Zad got 5k fine.

Then yeah, Soucy getting at least 2 games, guaranteed.
Maybe, according to an Edmonton radio show they didn't get any calls regarding the incident at all.
Got to protect McBaby.

Total BS cause if it was against the Canucks, nothing would happen.
Okay let's go "conspiracy". They won't get the same media coverage because Vancouver doesn't have McDavid to draw viewership. It's good for marketing if Edmonton is playing.
This is about what I think will happen as well.

Soucy has 1 previous suspension in his history - in 2021 for a high hit on Conor Garland, for which he received 1 game.
Hmmm...... that makes a 12 gamer for a fair second suspension the next step for sure. Ya...right!
In juulson we trust
IF that's the way he gets in McD and Dras better keep their head up because he will be expendable. AND he can hit really hard.
I can live with 1 game suspension, and come home with a split 2-2.
Why 2 -2? If they give Soucy a suspension it might have boomerang effect and the team actually steps it up to another level.

It would be silly and look bad if they suspend Soucy after penalizing Zadorov for driving him into Soucy's stick. When has one incident ever resulted in TWO additional penalties? EVER?

Especially after acknowledging Zadorov being found guilty partially?

This is just … not a suspension.
  1. Zero injury suffered on the play.
  2. No intent of actually hitting him in the head/neck – was clearly intended for the chest and a late movement caused by another hit caused McBaby to drop into the stick. Late movement is a mitigating factor as per the rulebook.
  3. McBaby instigated the situation with the two-handed slash after the whistle, which again is mitigation.
There is literally zero precedent for any sort of suspension here. It’s not a suspension in the regular season, and it’s certainly not a suspension in the playoffs. Like, last year Jamie Benn got two games for literally intentionally cross-checking a guy in the face.

The only reason this is on the radar is because of the player who was hit, which is insane. If that was Derek Ryan, it would be the same thing as the Hoglander spear. Nobody would give a shit, there would be zero supplemental discipline.

Also Zadorov getting fined but McDavid not getting fined is just absurd.

13 years later and we’re going to get Aaron Rome’d again. Absolutely f***ing infuriating. Just like 2011 too where the other team is the team throwing literally 90% of the marginal/dangerous hits and then one borderline thing we do gets somehow singled out and over-punished.

Eh, his absence is definitely going to hurt the team though.
Juulsen can hit and leave a bruise. he doesn't have to chase them down, they stop to make plays.
How many odd man rushes have the Oiler's earned other than when the Canucks back off in the ozone?
The Oilers are leaving early.
I can easily see another Rome hit from Juulsen and the way the Canucks are funneling Dras and McD it might be one of them.
I'd prefer Friedman
No way, if that was the case then go with Pettersson, he was a shutdown guy for Sweden and did great. Or Wolanin, he would embrace a chance. There are others as well. For one game and 7 minutes go with the nastiest. Just can't play Cole and Juulsen together unless Tocchet reduces both ice time and make them more PK specialists. That would mean Myers and Zadorov have to eat an additional 3 minutes each.

Tocchet might go with 7 defencemen next game knowing that one isn't going to last or 6 and depend upon a defensive forward(s)

Losing Soucy will hurt as the suspension seems inevitable. There is an obvious improvement in our defense when he's in the lineup but this is part of the playoffs. Need to be able to overcome some losses like this.

The good news is I suspect the strategy of play McDavid and Draisatl half the game is likely not gonna happen again. Their coach knows its not sustainable and is hurting their ability to generate a more balanced attack, and I suspect that unless they're down a goal or 2 in the third we won't be seeing this tomorrow.

Well you know, the pimp gotta protect his bitches. When this is the foundation of their whole system, logic reasoning is staring at them from the rear view mirror as they speed off a cliff, Homer Simpson style.
