Listening to the beyond stupid take that SEA is playing with "house money" on pretty much every podcast and preview I've listened to. Yes, it will be a successful season regardless of tonight's outcome, but there isn't a player on the Kraken who has a scintilla of that thought in their head and since they are the one's who will be competing, the house money nonsense is f**king idiotic to discuss.
As far as a fan perspective, it's true. No stress for me as I was just happy to make the playoffs. Obviously the players don't have that in their heads.

If I ever see Morgan Geekie I'm going to call him a liar to his face
So, in your mind, players always speak the 100% truth and say exactly what's on their minds during press availabilities? Really? They throw out whatever sounds good, usually without saying anything of substance of all. It's a skill that they are literally taught.

So tough to say what would make a better WCF story.

The two newest teams in the league battling out for a ticket to the finals, or Vegas going up against a team that beat them in the WCF recently, when DeBoer was the coach...and now DeBoer is that team's coach. Vegas looks for redemption and a cup ticket but they have to go through their former bench boss. I guess I'm just rooting for 8 overtimes

Yes, I understand, but you've missed the point. They are projecting that mindset on to the players. That's the idiotic part.
House money for the fans for sure. I think for the players it's just a chip on their shoulder and proving people wrong. They've been wrote off all season.

Pre/early season- they'll be in the Bedard sweeps
January- good run but this is unsustainable they'll fall apart.
Wild card round- Colorado will sweep/Colorado in 4
This round more of the same etc.

They do seem to be playing more lose/with a point to prove than they did towards the end of the regular season.

Yet there's thread from gatekeeper fans saying how bad it is for the ratings. If the NHL had a half decent marketing department you could generate the storylines easily. NFL does it all the time.

Again, I'm not talking about the fans.

Loose is one thing, house money suggests reckless abandon and a c'est la vie attitude if it doesn't work out. Eberle comments post game last night were spot on, especially starting at :50.

Joe Pavelski is as clutch as they come. Not his fault he had to carry Chokin' Joe (Thornton) for so many years. Tarnishing Pavs playoff record. This guy is a Game 7 lock. I stake my reputation around here on Pavs being the Star that shines brightest in what should be an easy one for the home team.

...Oettinger looks a bit "in his own head" right now...Seattle might be punching up at the best time...:eek3:

...that said, I am expecting Dallas to handle what should be a Seattle push in the first and be cruising by the third to a 6-3 win...Pavelski shows us why he's headed to the HHoF tonight, methinks...
