Post-Game Talk: WCSF Game #6 SHARKS @ Predators May 9, 2016 6:00pm PDT CNBC

There have been a few moments in this series where I have (half) legitimately wondered if the Sharks had some sort of illness affecting a majority of the team, and last night was particularly brutal. They were so slow, and so hesitant to skate, it was painful to watch. I stopped and rewound the game a few times to watch particular races to loose pucks again - you could see the Sharks, with or without body position, letting up and gliding towards loose pucks on a consistent basis, while the Predators would not stop moving their feet until they had control or made a play. It was frustrating to watch, especially given how fast they came out of the gate to take the early lead.

I will say, the only silver lining I can find out of game 6 was that, despite the Predators utter domination for fifty or so minutes, it still was only a one goal game that was decided on a once in a lifetime backhand from a young grinder, that still needed a little deflection from the defenseman before going bar down and in. If this game was 8-1 I'd be a little worried, but they played like a streaming pile of pig**** and still managed to make a game out of it.

I know it's unlikely to happen before a game 7, but I would really like to see Demelo in over Polak. The team desperately needs to be better at moving the puck and Roman is undoubtedly the worst of the bunch. I think a fresh Demelo will add some youthful exuberance on the backend and would bring some needed energy.

Additionally, I hope Wingels is back for game 7. He seems to be the kind of guy who probably hates sitting and watching, and would come out with a vengeance Thursday.

Finally, I just feel it's important to note that last year, when the Sharks were completely out of the postseason, ****ing sucked. I hate that they lost last night and I will hate it a thousand times more if they lose Thursday, but we just need to enjoy the ride.

Fans on the main board are impossibly quick to anoint the Sharks Cup champs after a good game or two, and are even quicker to anoint them chokers after a loss. I think when we, as a fanbase, mirror those extreme highs and extreme lows, we only feed into that narrative that the organization is mentally weak and prone to epic collapse. So, before Thursday, just try to not act like the sky is falling, because it's not. On gameday, just ****ing enjoy! It will be entertaining regardless of what happens.
Your last paragraph about the main board. The Todd McLellan thread was already bumped after last night.
i def wanted to play the ducks. really wanted to wipe socal from SCP this year after seeing how we handled the kings. and wanted to the dubs to beat the clippers but that aint gonna happen.

I really think this team could beat either team in a playoff series. This is the better team on paper out of Predators and Shark, but they just haven't really been the better team this series. Games 1 and 5 were the only that they looked like a superior team. And that's not saying that they need to blow them out to look superior. Let's just be honest though, game 2 was really not that great of a game played either. The Predators could have won that game.

Just because the sharks are the better team doesn't mean they can't be outplayed by a worse team in stretches. It happens and crappy game sixes doesn't mean anything for game seven

I'm not arguing this.

Which is why I said a bad goaltender like Rinne can win a series still and a crummy 3rd liner like Mike Fisher can masquerade as Mario Lemieux for a series too. And Craig Smith might be another guy playing over his head. He has a PPG so far in the playoffs, yet produced like a borderline 3rd/4th line guy in the regular season. Although he's still young and probably has a higher ceiling than what he did this year in the regular season.

we'll probably see that emotion they brought in games 1 and 2 for the LA series for game 7. just sucks that they wait until their backs are against the wall to do it.

i do like what vlasic said in postgame interview "we didnt play our best game and we almost won...we'll be back on thursday."

Atleast the Sharks dont have to play in Nashville anymore this year.

They usually have problems with them, especially in Nashville and on Saturday nights there. I actually have this conspiracy that Poile has been campaigning to get a San Jose game at home on a Saturday night at least once a year. Since Saturday night's in Nashville against the Sharks are almost a guaranteed win for the Preds these days.

Rinne has an absurd career save percentage against the Sharks too, but he's been nothing great this series. Outside of games 2 and 3, he's been meh at best and has allowed a garbage goal all but in those two games. I'd be surprised if his save percentage in the series is much above 91%.

He's so over his head, he changed his name to Colin Wilson! Lol

So the Preds are 0-7 in San Jose in playoff games.

What's the worry?

right?

Gotta love that Randy Hahn lol

I think everyone is neglecting the critical importance of match-ups and last change. I know PDB keeps saying that it doesn't matter and he keeps rolling 4 lines, but it sure matters for Nashville. Lavi kept going to that Fisher line with last change when he like his match-up. I think that's been a critical difference in this series. It's been killing the Sharks in Nashville, and what has really hamstrung the Preds in SJ.
