Nobody underestimated the Canucks. Vancouver has been scraping out one goal games against a goalie with the worst playoff sv% since 2005. Far from a powerhouse, as was correctly predicted.
The goalie who is giving up those goals to the Canucks, right? His horrific save percentage doesn't exist in a vacuum. And, weirdly, goalies are still considered part of a team. That may be corrected in the next CBA, but for now we have to deal with it. And the Oilers have also been playing against a third string goalie, and have managed to scrape out one OT win so far.

Vancouver won the division. And led the league in points for stretches. And had the best power-play in the league in the first quarter. And led in goal differential all year. And had 6 players at the all-star game.

But whatever you say boss

Oilers fans before playoffs : Canucks have unsustainable PDO!

Canucks fans : That's just the way we play when we have the lead.

Oilers fans now : We are dominating in shots and the Canucks are turtling!

Canucks fans : That's just the way we play when we have the lead.

Speculation is that Ekholm is injured/banged up tho he is expected to play but the Oilers might dress 7 D (Broberg) in case Ekholm cant finish the the game.

Injury might have came from the 2 massive hits he took from Lindholm and Joshua last game, both within like 10 seconds of eachother.

I fully expect McFavoured and the Oily Boys to come out flying, trying to hit a bunch, maybe even Kane acts tough and tries to fight Aman or something. Canucks need to weather that storm and take advantage of any rampant emotion, get to Pickard early, and play stifling D.

I think both teams should probably be urgent for their cup this year though. Vancouver's losing a lot of talent this summer, potentially. They only have Hughes and Soucy signed on the blueline for next year - it could be hard to replicate what they have now.
You're definitely right about our window, but that doesn't really give us a cup or bust mentality. The playoffs have already been a massive success for us. It's given us an extended look at which pending free agents we should prioritize, and which ones we should not. Shown us that keeping Miller & Boeser was 100% the right call, and that buying into the coach's structure works. And to cap all that off, our 23 year old goalie emerged as a playoff hero. Those were all question marks at the beginning of the season, and were still lingering questions we had going into the playoffs.

If Edmonton wins 3 straight agaainst us, I would hardly call this season or these playoffs a bust.

I'd still be disappointed.

I'm not expecting to win the Cup this year. That was a reasonable expectation back in 2011, more of a puncher's chance this year. But when you're up in a series against a team that is clearly vulnerable, it would be nice to close it out.

Why are you acting like Skinner hasn’t been your starter all year. We made your goalie like trash, but your defense also sucks

You're right, the season is already a success. Our goal was to just make the playoffs but we won the pacific and are in the 2nd round against a team that is seeking a cup.

Regardless of anything, this is all bonus to Canuck fans

Vancouver's offense is mediocre. EP could change that, but it's definitely been whatever. They're being gifted goals every game and still can't manage to win by more than one. The series predictions were what they were for good reason, I suppose.

That third string goalie is a Vezina candidate compared to Skinner. Do you really think the Canucks are at all impressive winning two one goal games against the worst playoff goalie of the last 20 years?
