GDT: WCQF: Game 5 - Colorado Avalanche @ Dallas Stars | 7:30 MT

I'm kinda surprised. I don't feel like Cale has been that great defensively this series. I'm talking, I feel like he's making unforced errors defensively rather than Dallas forcing him to hurry up and make a risky play.

Last year's playoffs were more of an example where Cale didn't play well defensively IMO. Especially early on.

A couple little plays he could have played better, but for the most part, I've liked how he's defended. He's competed, been physical and hard to play against, hasn't had turnover problems, and hasn't made too many coverage mistakes IMO.

Toews has been ok defensively too IMO. They both need to be more assertive with the puck in the O zone though.

I agree for the most part. He hasn’t been bad, but not great either. And coupled with his lack of point production, it’s not ideal. He’s a pretty good defender but net front and board battles could use some work imo. As well, along with the rest of the team, it infuriates me when he leaves a loose puck that he could get to in favour of “staying in position” but that’s a coaching thing I think.

Talking about coaches getting the most out of players, while some of the Avs top players have struggled in this series, it’s not like DeBoer has gotten a ton out of his top guys. Other than game 5, Johnston and Mikko haven’t done much. They finally produced in game 5. Duchene only has one assist in the series.

Couldn't agree more. It's so obvious.

We're talking in terms of being a coach killer, dividing the locker room instead of bringing it together as Captain, missing the playoffs, and planning years in advance to bail on your team as soon as you can right?

C'mon, we all know that Cale would have demanded a trade to wherever Taylor wound up. We were lucky to be able to draft Taylor before anyone else
