GDT: WCQF: Game 5 - Colorado Avalanche @ Dallas Stars | 7:30 MT

Hello from the Finnish Liiga finals, Game 3.

KalPa just scored four(!) goals in the first 2,5mins(!) of the game. SaiPa pulled their starter after the third goal but their backup (drumroll) Avs legend Michael Hutchinson has already let in two. 5-0 after the first.

Avs take notes! Smoke em early!!!
Feel shit for jinxing the start.

Of course it HAD to f***ing start the way it did. Had my palm almost go through my forehead right to my brain there.

Just win at home boys and then go against the odds for game seven.

You're probably right.
Joe won't.

Tho am sure the kroenkes are gnashing glass right about now.

Not until this team sheds all the distractions (Val, Val again, Landy, for starters) it has taken on, allowed, permitted, created... will this team be able to right this on again off again ship.

Don't get me wrong, landy return is a big ass warm fuzzy, and may still bear fruit... but it still was and may still be a huge systemic distraction. IOW, good or bad, it is has been a massive distraction.

They've been talking about going to the net all series. Bednar's not playing the game. The players are and they're not doing what they know they need to do.

How on earth are Blackwood and Makar's game tonight due to Bednar's "lack of adjustments?"

Stars pressure wasn't the problem. Two flukey bounces, a power play goal, a double deflection off Marchment and Toews stick, and a 2 on 1 goal had nothing to do with the Stars pressure.

DeBoer's system had nothing to do with the unlucky bounces.

Avs don't need to play a perfect game to win. They just need to bury their chances and it could change everything.
Agree wid dis.

Lol ok, whatever. What about 11, 13, 27, 88, 8, 7, 49 etc.
I already said they've been bad. It's weird that you have to protect one person, when it's quite clear that pretty the whole team has come out playing like they don't want to win this series more often than not. There's plenty of blame to go around, from the coaches to the players. It's been bad.

13 has been almost as bad as 8.

For a guy that has f***ed his teammates over the last two postseasons, he doesn't seem too engaged. Where's the f***ing beast that used to relentlessly hound the puck?

This team needs a new coach in the worst possible way. You can just tell the Bednar rhetoric is falling on deaf ears, and the system is completely figured out. You shouldn't be coaching a top contender when you consistently fail against one of your main opposing coaches.

Did his message fall on deaf ears in Game 4? How did his system work?

At what point does the the Bednar/BeDoer thing stop being coincidence? He's about to be 0-4 in series against him.
It's not a coincidence 😅

Beyond the bad bounces and poor puck luck, the Stars are missing arguably their two best players and we are losing. Even if you don't think DeBoer is strategically outcoaching Bednar, the fact that he can get a hobbled team past a healthy Avs team says all you need to know about this coaching matchup.

About the second time around. That Vegas series was very winnable. DeBoer bitched about the refs being unfair (even though the reason the Avs got so many PP chances was because Vegas was just taking countless cheap shots). DeBoer than got Vegas to focus on pressure rather than trying to intimidate the Avs and completely switched the momentum. It's pretty much been the story of every Bednar vs DeBoer series...Avs start out strong, don't change anything. DeBoer's teams get beat up a bit, come back strong.

It's basically the series equivalent of the classic Avs turtle. Build up momentum, look unbeatable, completely take the foot off the gas and let the other team come back and never find that momentum again.

29, 25, 92 and 39 are doing their job. Not single other player is.

I'm not got to shit on player who has 5 goals on 5 games.

Not sure why you refuse to accept that some players are playing hard and doing their job. Unfortunately it's only 4 guys.

Another night of Cale Makar at the bottom of this card.

Didn't you know? It's always the player's fault. Bednar is hockey Jesus and everything he's done is 100% right. MacK and Makar look bad because they're just playing bad. It's not like they were horrendously over played this season, and practiced the least of any team this season.

Again, MacK is playing well in spurts. I think you can also throw out some blame for Blackwood having a really bad Game 5. Same as I think you can throw out blame for MacKinnon basically going into zombie mode late in Game 2 and 3. There's plenty of blame to go around. I don't think MacKinnon is our biggest concern, but I also don't think he's been consistently great this series.

He doesn't look remotely threatening out there. That's the problem.

If it was glorious chance after glorious chance getting stopped, tip your cap.

He looks awful, and I have a feeling when the Avs lose this series on Thursday (yes, I already lost all confidence after tonight) he'll hit us with the "I take full responsibility I wasn't good enough" BS.
He’s had plenty of dangerous enough chances to score. I agree he hasn’t been himself but when he converts on one of these (hopefully), I think it changes things for him. He came out the gates in this series just flinging the puck all over the place besides at the net. Wonder if it got in his head but I’m at least happy to see shots on net now. He’s dialing in a bit more

The more I watch Dallass the more I hate that team. If I wanted to watch soccer, I'd f***in' watch soccer. The dives and flops are just straight up trash. If this is what the league wants, then god bless, because it's borderline unwatchable for people like me.

Benn diving with a 5-2 lead makes me want to puke.

Among other things, these refs have no pride. They don't care that the Stars embarrass them, make them look stupid, and scream at them over legit penalties every night.
