I'm confused about the bitching that Bednar didn't adjust tonight. They played bad in the 3rd, then were clearly the better team in OT, so apparently they changed something up.
"Clearly the better team in OT" seems pretty subjective. Dallas got the 2 best scoring chances. One required a miracle to stop and the other went in.

Bad plays by EJ and Wood killed the game, not Bednar "not adjusting". Plus yeah it sucks we lost, but was anyone realistically expecting a sweep here? Its one game, not getting close to elimination.
How can you watch the 2nd line continuously fail and not make a change? That's all on Bednar.

Beds legitimately had all his lines rolling and the Avs looking like they were building huge momentum going into the playoffs and he decided that was the perfect time to Bednar Blender it all to shit and the forward chemistry hasn’t really been the same since

You win in the POs by being able to roll four effective lines. Not three lines. That’s FOUR lines. It was obvious during the RS that Nuke should be on MacK’s wing. Instead, we’re getting the blender idiocy. IT DOESN’T F****** WORK JARED.

A sign of life would be nice
The problem is that Nuke is clearly not 100% and being tasked to carry that entire line on his own. As bad as Nelson was, Drouin was just as bad, if not worse and HE'S the one being given PP1 time (that giveaway on the PP was a prime example). Love the player and the story, but his skillset is seemingly not suited for playoff hockey. Too soft.

It’s concerning to me that Bednar doesn’t even think our best top 6 is the one where we were undefeated and actually had the second line scoring. Nelson had 2G 3A in 5 games with Necas on his wing.

It’s concerning to me that Bednar thinks EJ, a guy the Flyers couldn’t wait to get rid of and is on his last legs, is actually a better option than Malinski who was playing his best hockey to finish the season.

It’s concerning to me that Bednar would think Miles f***ing Wood is a better option than even a 50% ready Gabe Landeskog.

It’s concerning to me that Bednar watches the top 6 struggle, watches DeBoer make adjustments to his lines that are successful, and continues to sit there and do nothing.

I’m concerned.

We hope not but let's wait and see.

I think the Avs were better than Dallas in game 1 and through 40 minutes tonight.

The reason for the frustration is twofold:

1) the game was right there for a 2-0 series lead
2) Miles Wood's stupid ass

Remember, Dallas went down 2-0 to Vegas last year both on home ice and won 4 of the last 5. Every game blown by the Avs is another couple days for Heiskanen/Robertson to return.

Avs gotta take care of business at home, and it starts with 8.
Cale has the ability to take over a game and make it his own. The Avs are just another hockey team when he doesn't make that happen.

The Avs had the lead 3 -2 going into the 3rd period. They couldn't hold the lead and lost it in OT. I believe EJ and Wood were on the ice for both Dallas goals.

The Avs legit deserve to lose if Landy was ready game 1. Which 100% he was.

f*** this Disney shit. He should have been playing.

They are legit trying to write a Disney movie instead of winning playoff games.

We want him to come back in a home game... Who f***ing cares? We need to win against a legit good team that has a better coach.

Also, at no point last year (against Dallas or Winnipeg) did the Avs get absolutely stomped this badly 5v5. What a truly pathetic performance.

It’s not concerning. It’s criminal! I’m F******* LIVID!

YES. And I thought that long before I saw this.

He was awful. Wasn’t winning puck battles (though there were quite a few Avs doing that), doing way too much with the puck again, failed to tie anyone up in the slot area.

I think I’m starting to notice when he’s playing hurt vs. when he’s mostly healthy. Game 1 he was definitely okay. Tonight was a total 180.

Again, it wasn’t just him, I have no idea what the hell was going on with Sammy either.

Lastly, something seemed very much off with Nate. I thought he played really well, worked his ass off in the defensive zone and got the puck out of trouble on a few occasions. That might have been the problem. He looked gassed in the third, made some WTF turnovers.
I love all the “what game were you watching” comments about Manson. Once again the eye test doesn’t hold up. Manson is big and skates around bunch so I guess he gets a pass.

Once again the 2nd line is f***ing over 29. He's actually playing very good hockey, too bad 8 and the 2nd line forgot how to play hockey.

We got two morals of the stories from this game.

Number one is that, the NHL playoffs are effing hard. It's like playing Elden Ring, but without thumbs.

Number two, Avs played that third period not trying to win, but not trying to lose. When you play not wanting to lose, it always ends up in a loss. This time, you had a chance to go up 2-0 with one solid period and now you're coming back home 1-1. That is loser mentality playoffs if you'd ask me. I thought we were the better team in OT, but there was not one play where I thought that we looked challenging to score. A ton of outside shots with some traffic, but not close enough to get anywhere. Too many missed shots again, but I have been on repeat for the last month saying this. If it wasn't going to change then, no way it is going to change now. Avs or Bednar have some mental demons against clubs like Dallas. There has just been too much evidence that we can't sustain long-term against these teams that cut down our speed. This series is going exactly like last year, but this time we get to take a half-arse effort Nuke with us instead of a doped-up Nuke.

There are some players who just ain't doing it for me. Nelson, no show. Girard, turnover machine. Drouin, playing injured, I know, but invisible. Lehkonen, looks like he's coming back from a mixture of chemo and mono (insanely weak). Dallas might be missing Heiskanen and Robertson, but we've got too many no-shows to even the Stars injury list out.

They had all the momentum going into the 3rd and they decided to sit back, this loss is on the coaches and players deciding they only needed to play 40 minutes
I saw the same, but I don't think they decided to sit back, I think Dallas started taking the game to them, they got nervous, and started having very poor gap control

So, is Nate asking Bednar to keep him and Necas together, or is Bednar really going to be this obtuse again with his lineup decisions.

I'm not saying he cost us the game or anything, but the fact that we aren't seeing JD-Nate-Nuke followed by Lehky-Nelly-Necas yet is really bothering me.

In the past Bednar would simply stack the top line because we didn't have enough healthy bodies for two top lines. Now we've got 2 actual top 2 centers and 4 actual top four wingers but Bedner assembles his lines like....

Thankfully the Avs are heading home and the Nuggets are going on the road so they should finally get to play on some actual good ice unlike the trash in Dallas.

This. Dont forget about bringing EJ back (who is a #8 d-man at this point) too. I would have been fine with it if they actually got a legit bottom pairing RHD but CMac didnt do shit. Enough of these weird hype up feel good stories and just play the best players.
