GDT: WCQF: Game 2 - Avs @ Stars, 7:30 MT - "I've Heard It Both Ways" Edition

Good news is it feels like we're playing at about 85% of potential.

Bad news is it feels like we're playing at about 85% of potential.

My concern is DeBoer once again made adjustments and we get to sit and watch Bednar the next 2 games make no adjustments and be down 1-3 in the series before he tries something.

Avs need to start supporting each other rather than trying to stretch out the Dallas coverage. They give away the puck in terrible situations frequently

The worst part about that loss is the Avs had a ton of glorious chances in this game, and they seemed to settle down in overtime. They got back to defending properly, staying above pucks, and lots of O-zone time.

One Miles Wood donkey mode effort f***s it all up.

This honestly feels like the Vegas series all over again. Avs come out hot and win game
1, but by game 2 you could see DeBoer had made changes and they were starting to beat the Avs to the puck and winning battles. Exact same thing this game. Bednar basically made no adjustments until the series was lost. Let’s see if he does anything this time or just repeat history

Nah. Colorado was the better team for a lot of this game. Deboer didn’t do anything to shut down the Avs. Colorado left off the gas was the only reason they lost.

Val actually showed up in OT so hopefully that’s a good sign moving forward.

However, his linemates are a different story. Nelson hasn’t met a puck battle he doesn’t like to lose. Drouin has been soft and brutal as well.

Yeah his hustle off the opening faceoff in OT would have been amazing if the team knew what to do with a powerplay.

We lost the faceoff clean yet still got a couple chances in the zone because of him.

The decision to put #28 in looming VERY large right now.

I’m concerned. Avs did relatively well in the first two periods and then just kinda laid down for the third.

Top six just isn’t getting it done at even strength. I’m afraid they’re waaaaay more banged up than they’re letting on.

Also one of the worst games I’ve ever seen from Manson. Sammy was not much better.

Certainly can’t blame the goalie on this one. He wasn’t perfect but he made the big saves when he had to.

It feels like a good chunk of the teams important players have yet to show up this series. Makar looks like he did in the Kraken series, the entire second line looks like garbage, MacKinnon went into brain off mode the second the third period started. The team needs to figure its shit out

It doesn't even matter that they miss Robertson and Heiskanen. It's all about the coaching.

I know the plan is to introduce Landy next game but the coach needs to do something about the 2nd line.

Also Necas had a bad rap about his past playoff performances and so far he does nothing to help with that

Agreed. Lazy in the Dzone, entries are awful and can’t catch a puck on the cycle to save his life
