I must give credit to Mack for his turn around at faceoffs. He finished the season at 49.9%. He didn't have a good first half of the season so he must have gone at around 53-54% the last couple of months. It is great to see that he finally gives a shit about them. It might coincide with Mikko being traded. Without Mikko and Landy I think he felt he had no choice but to improve.

Now if he could only improve his backhand passes and stop forcing passes on the PP we would be in great shape.
51.9% since Jan. 1.

Note how the more important faceoffs (PP Oz and EV OZ) have the better percentages. One reason obviously that he has the better advantage in those situations (Dzone C has to put stick down first). And I would bet that these percentages would be even higher if looking at the more impactful faceoffs (Ozone in close scores late in game, Dzone when leading late in game, etc). He definitely became a monster in those late game, important faceoff situations.

Lol.

For real though...Vegas? Edmonton?

Dallas (with Heiskanen) > Vegas > Winnipeg > Dallas (without Heiskanen)

Everyone else in the West should be an auto win for the Avs.

I'd even be tempted to throw Dallas without Heiskanen in the auto-win category but I'm too emotionally scarred from the last three series against them. Not having your top defenseman in a series against a cup contender is bad enough, but it compounded by the fact that Dallas has probably the worst defensive depth of any of the cup contenders this year.

Drouin's quote when interviewed by TMV scares me. He's obviously not 100%, hasn't been all season and isn't going to be until the summer.

""Last year was a scary, long one, so yeah, I'm fine. I feel good," Drouin said. "I just knew it was something that could bother me if I kept playing on it, so kind of let it settle down."

Whatever is ailing him, if the Avs make a deep run I don't expect him to be playing every game. People here think it's Joel Kiviranta who will come in to spell Landeskog but I actually think it'll be Landeskog and Drouin rotating in and out on the top line while Kiviranta is permanently on the 3rd line with Coyle and Colton.

I'd say Edmonton is much better than all those teams.
