Piggybacking off a post on the main boards.

Friedman had mentioned no teams who play on Thursday will play on Saturday. Thats Toronto, Carolina, Ottawa, Tampa, Washington, LA, Calgary.

That means the following could start Saturday:
DAL/COL
WPG if they play STL or MIN
VGK if they play STL or MIN »

So educated guess would have the Avs start Saturday.

That would probably put game 3 to be on Wednesday right? Or maybe Thursday?

I’m confused. So Avs will open the playoffs on the 19th but the 1st game will be on the 20th? And since game 3 likely be on Wednesday, game 4 will be on Monday while game 2 is Saturday.

Even when they had the worst goaltending by far in the entire NHL the Avs still managed a positive expected goals rate.

This is still an elite team. We'll see if they can get it done in the postseason but the numbers don't lie.
Does expected goal differential take into account goaltending? Or is based on the chances generated vs chances allowed?

The latter.

Chances generated vs. chances allowed with the probability of both converting into goals on average.

It basically means we have outplayed opponents every month of the season and would have been expected to score more than we allow.

Leaves out goaltending.

But what's considered a good chance is highly subjective and these types of statistics are unreliable. It's garbage in garbage out. Who decides what's considered a high percentage shot or not? What events preceeeded a shot that makes it more difficult or easier to save?

These types of analysis are only reliable to the extent that they support my pre conceived notions and biases.

Otherwise they're all just damned lies and statistics.

This is just an unintended consequence of Tony Stark snapping his fingers and f***ing over all realities.

The Avs have always started the playoffs on every single day of the year and have won the Stanley Cup every single year... just not always in the same universes. Tony Stark is actually the villain at the center of Stephen King's Dark Tower. When he snapped his fingers with the infinity gauntlet on, it reverberated through all aspects of reality and started an unintended consequence of reality failing due to intersecting at too many points.

Marvel is the biggest evil in sci-fy, horror and sports literature combined.

Is this a real quote from Dater after a full 72 hours of weed ayahuasca and moonshine with no sleep?
