Lots of options up front for bednar to mix and match with Dallas's top 9. I like this shutdown 2nd line look.

Lehkonen- MacKinnon- Drouin
Landeskog- Coyle- Nichushkin
Colton- Nelson- Necas
Kelly- Drury- O'Connor

Maybe. But signing another $3M 1 year contract with Dallas seems a little far fetched to me. Being what, 34 years old? Seems like he’d want to maximize his earnings especially with the cap going up. I’d also think he’d want term given his age. Given the market for 2Cs, I wouldn’t take it as a given that he’ll re-up for cheap. And wasn’t he one of their top scorers? Is that how the organization treats players that it needs?
He's signed back to back 1 year, 3M contracts with them in 2023 and 2024.

It's not far fetched to think he'll do the same if he's done it twice.

What is so attractive about living in Dallas?

How much do you think he could earn on the open market with the rising cap and what kind of term could he get, especially given his production? IiRC, Canucks and Jets were looking for a 2C. Maybe Panthers too if Bennett leaves.

You could be right. But if Duchene signs another $3M 1year contract with the Stars then it’s obvious salary (notwithstanding production) and term are non-factors. Would you want to be his agent? I would find it hilarious if Rants who is paid $12M AAV would get paired up with Duchene at $3M for a 1 year contract especially given his production. I’d be fine with that because it means the Stars’ salary structure is unbalanced. Stars fans are already talking about possibly losing JRob and Marchment.

Felt like this series has been inevitable since February. This series could have been the WCF in a different world, but instead one of the true favorites for the cup this season is going to go home in April. Both teams are coming in rested, having not really played their best hockey of recent. Avs had been better, but you gotta think Dallas will rise to the occasion. This should be one of the best first round matchups in recent memory.

For Dallas the X-factor is Mikko. Does he rise to the occasion of being traded to a rival and match MacKinnon's play? If Mikko matches MacK's production in this series the Avs will have a hard time keeping up.
For the Avs, the X-factor is the Landy effect. If they get 60-75% of the Landy from 2022, the Avs match up down the lineup far better than if Kivi is playing in his place. The emotional aspect of the Captain's return cannot be understated either. Around here, we get it, but I'm not sure fans of other teams understand as well. These guys are going to be ready to run through walls when he returns. I am curious to see if he is ready for game 1 or if we will see him for the first time for game 3. If something happens and Landy's return is not successful, the emotional let down will be hard to overcome.

Duchene is also getting ~$5.6 million from Nashville this season and $6.5 million next year.
1.5 million the two following seasons.
That could be playing into his willingness to take a discount again....

I looked up his career earnings. Like $82M. So yeah, I could see money being a non-factor but if I were his agent then I’d at least want term for him.

The Stars won't lose Robertson lol. He's part of their core.

Duchene seems like a guy who has found happiness in Dallas after not having it the latter years in Colorado nor his stints in Ottawa, Columbus, or Nashville. Similar to Drouin, why leave that situation if you're having great personal and team success for a bit more money when not only have you made a ton already but Nashville is still paying you?
By the way guys, The Hockey Guy said that Colorado is a very dangerous team and he would not want to play against us. His favorite team is Dallas.
BUT WHAT DID HENCH SAY

What do you mean Texas is awesome. Great food, good weather and the people are super nice.
Weather? Try again. Depends where in Texas but the weather is humid, sweltering, dry, dusty, windy and then you have flooding and tornado season. I do like the back roads though. Beautiful country in some parts. People are the same everywhere. But I’m fine with it. To the people in Texas, please stay there. We have been overrun in Colorado.
