Big Game Story: After two incredibly tough losses in St. Louis, the Kings returned home and rode some tremendous goaltending from 2012 Conn Smythe winner Jonathan Quick
en route to a 1-0 victory in Game 3. And with Saturday’s 1-0 win against the St. Louis Blues at Staples Center, the defending Stanley Cup champions are back in business.
Should the Los Angeles Kings be able to earn another victory on home ice Monday, the series suddenly becomes a best-of-3.
KINGS need to remind the BLUES which team won the Stanley Cup Championship. GO KINGS GO !!!

QuotesHOME4_zpsc5be8269.png
Forward & Team Captain DUSTIN BROWN said:
"It’s really hard to win a game one-nothing. We found a way to do it tonight. It was a huge win. We cut it in half. Now we’ve got to regroup and get ready for Game 4. But we’re going to need to score more than one goal in this series if we want to be successful. We’ve got to figure out.” ( On Jonathan Quick’s performance ) … “I just call that ‘Quickie being Quickie’. I mean, everyone knows how good he is in this room. You don’t want to rely on a goaltending performance like that, but you come to expect that from Quickie because he’s shown that he can do it time and time again."
Forward JUSTIN WILLIAMS said:
"I still didn’t think we played a great third period. Obviously, we didn’t let them score, which was great, but we needed to learn from what we did in the previous game was surrender a goal and then surrender a late goal. We got the win. We’re happy about it. We’ve got to clean a few things up, but late in a game you’re trying to keep the puck out of your net. It was just a desperation play to try to preserve the shutout. (On the Win) … “Obviously it's the first of four, but this is a game that we needed to have - and Game 4 is going to be the same, We don't want to be going back there down 3-1. We want to put a little bit of pressure on them, win a game, see what happens."
Goaltender JONATHAN QUICK said:
“It’s another game. We did what we had to do to win the game. When you look at all the games between us and these guys, it’s going to be hard-fought. The team that out-works the other team is going to end up winning it, usually. I think we did a great job as far as a work aspect goes. There’s definitely things we need to clean up to get better at. I think PK really got us the win there."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER said:
"You know what, if you look at the series, 5-on-5 is so tough. There are a lot of little battles going on that only the players appreciate or understand. It’s pretty much what we said at the outset. There’s not much for goals, and you can’t get frustrated by it. Your top guys can’t get frustrated and start playing their own individual game, a turnover or stretch it out. That’s basically how we’re trying to play.” ( On the decision to go with seven defensemen ) … “Exactly that. I think we’re trying to get a little bit more out of everybody. We really haven’t used four lines very much in this series, especially on the right side of the ice. We’re trying to get Brownie and Willie and Jeff – really all it is is when you dress seven D, if you break it down with our team, it’s about 12 more shifts. When you break it down, it’s not that significant. Our fourth line hasn’t been playing much, and our fourth line right wing has hardly played at all. We just thought we’d give maybe Jeff Carter and Dustin Brown and Justin Williams a couple more minutes, which gets away from matchups. It worked last night. It gives our defense some energy, and obviously Keaton – you take Keaton out, and you’re losing a guy who’s a really good penalty killer for us, and we didn’t want to do that."

- UPCOMING WCQF PLAYOFFS SCHEDULE -
2013WCQFScheduleRnd1_zpsc1bc1509.png

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

How about we score some goals? (I said this in the last GDT, and even though we didn't, we still won). Unfortunately, I will miss the first two periods of the game tonight and fully expect this to be a 1-0 game entering the third

I have a feeling Kopi and Richards will have big games. Hopefully Carter too. I don't think this one will be a low-scoring affair.

4-2 Kings. Carter, Martinez, Kopi, Brown.

Going tonight...was there Saturday and I'm superstitious so I'm going to drink the same amount of beers and whiskys.

GO KINGS!!!!!!!!

Please let Greene be back tonight...Ellerby and Muzzin are killing me out there. I think last game was a good confidence building game for everyone, with the fantastic D we've been playing and Quick being in prime form our offense is going to look to get it going tonight.

This is for me "it" game. If Kings win, they'll take the whole series. If Blues win, they'll finish series with next game at home...

Another huge game (obviously). If they lose this one they're gonna have to win three straight, two being on the road. A win here and they'll be in a decent position to take it.

Also, the Staples Center crowd needs to get pumped up tonight and get the Kings pumped up. St.Louis's crowd was board line annoying because of the chants they had going those 2 games. We need to up the enthusiasm decibels a few notches in that place.

not likely:

Helene Elliott ‏@helenenothelen 10m From what I gather, the lower-body injury that has kept Matt Greene out since the regular-season finale will keep him out a while.

I am one who follows streaks. I was comfortable with Game 3 because of the winning streak the Blues had going. It couldn't last forever.

I now HATE the 8-game home winning streak that the Kings now have going. Hate it, hate it, HATE it.

I can find positives, though. Kopitar's streak has to end soon, too.

I feel this way too. Let's make it a 3-game series!

I'm already freaking on edge. Tonight's game is sure to make my poor heart stop.

So Mitchell and Greene are basically out the whole year and there is a good chance Kopi has been limited by an injury all year. Probably just not our year

Not there, but here
By the play of the last 2 regular season games and then next 2 p/o games, and then this last game, I just don't know what to think or expect anymore. Can only hope the Kings decide scoring is vital.

I hope Kopi and Carter do better on the PP draws. It really upsets the whole thing when you lose that draw and then have to go back and chase and can't set up right.
That's bothered me alot this year. Esp in a very close, tight checking , ultra defensive series, the PP's are where you have to capitalize and gaining control is a part of that.

So Greene has a lower body injury? That's new to me. I guess we're finding out little by little about the injury.

My guess is that Kopi is hurt but not the knee. I think he probably has something like a mild charlie horse. Watching the last game he had some shifts where he was alright but then he had shifts where he completely struggled. Mostly towards the end of the game. I'm sure he gets caught where it hurts a few times and it sets him back a bit. It's funny whenever you get an injury in an area it always is the first place that gets hit!
