This renders True World Championships to Canada, USA, Europe and Asia.

I) Mere 32-Team Playoffs
II) 4 groups of 4, with 1+2 progressors and 60 min matches, for all games to matter
III) Mere 8-Nation Round-Robin under World League every 5 years, or alternatively 5 Rings

I) Too costly and pointless to have Russia versus Spain kind of pairs
II) Fewer games between the top teams essentially
III) Would kill international hockey

The second one is the only doable variant, but even then the groups would look something like this:

A Canada, Switzerland, Slovakia, Italy
B Russia, Germany, Latvia, Belarus
C Finland, USA, Norway, Austria
D Sweden, Czechia, Denmark, France

Essentially the whole group stage would have only a few interesting games thus not improving the current situation.

Thanks for continuing the conversation.

I) 2 matches and we're back with the quarterfinals, while having spread the world sport like USA or Canada in the FIFA World Cup
II) At least another 4 to play annual, full-on knockouts, and rewarding the group winners
III) The 'American' method is recognized to weigh the superiority more carefully than eliminations in soccer, and there are 6ish possibilities for the Gold Medalist

Should the North Americans want to play mostly home with either as host, and Europe's Big doing the same, there is much revenue to be made. The League's NHL regular season exhibition games on the Old Continent are easily surpassed.
