Garpen didn't shoot the puck over the glass... He may not be a good coach but not all the blame goes to him this time.
When you want your team to play passive af penalties like that will happen. It's 100% on Garpen that they started playing passively and turtling.

Well deserved loss,

It was evident that team Sweden got scared of losing already from their first powerplay after being up 2-0 ...

They didn't go for it ...

Dahlin cracked in the end and the result was just ...

There is no shame in losing to Canada but they way they did it was in fact shameful ...

Canada wasn't even playing well...

I'm glad to see Garpenlöv go - please don't put another old hockeyplayer with no track record as coach ...

Garbage PP all tournament except some highlight reels from Nylander.

Way to go, stubborn and useless head coach to not even *try* changing things when it was obvious to everyone it was not working.

Same goes for line combos etc.
Could still have won this if not for a Dahlin brain fart. Shit happens though. Would have gone out in semis anyway with this shitty special teams (PP in particular).

Of course it was. Only Dahlin and Nylander make a best on best team. Maybe Ullmark as a third choice goalie.
Z-team would have 0 players who would fit to best on best team. This was good team Sweden but unfortunately it wasn't enough.

Congrats to Canada though, they are tough bastards i have to say that. Somehow they manage to find the way to win these games.

Sweden is becoming more and more of a drama queen in hockey. Finland had this role earlier(luckily not anymore today).

Sweden is cursed, crazy to watch. Their system was good and they played hard defense, can’t fault the effort. A little shocking.

Canada taking dumb penalties... As a team they look horrendous.

Ullmark been really good and don´t forget Wallmark missed an open net before. Could have been 4-1 just as well.
I actually thought Germany was the worst team in the quarters before the game, but i guess i´ve changed my mind to Canada after witnessing this. They are not even close.

Sweden outclassed Canada.
How are you feeling now? The boys decided to prolong their European vacation.

Wth Sweden? You deserved the win. What a shitty way to go out. Really wanted you to advance.
There isn't such thing as deserved win when you lose, i hate this phrase. This is so overused here on hfboards.

Team that scores more goals deserves to win, period. Hockey is very simple sport, just look at the result and move on.

Well you are right but I disagree on the "100%". Dahlin was a big reason for today's loss as well.

I think if that was Finland with the early 3-0 lead, then Finland would've played passive as well, but I'm not sure would it have been quite that passive. Jalonen would've probably killed the player if a Finnish defender took that penalty that Dahlin did.

I find this pretty amusing as a fin since the swedes were so full of themselves after a tiny win over us, now look..

See you next year Sweden!

The results of IIHF worlds tournaments are absolutely meaningsless when judging the state of Swedish hockey, I mean. But yeah, can’t sit on leads against Canada, obviously. That’s why Sweden lost this game and it’s nothing new under Garpenlöv.

Was that Nylander's penalty actually a penalty? On slow motion that Canadian player (I think it was Batherson) fell very easily.

Sweden had similar collapse against Finland at the olympics lol

Yeah, being overly passive with a lead too early on is a dangerous mistake that many coaches still fall for. They think that being "hard to play against" is the same thing as covering shooting lanes, for some reason. Even when needing to get a late goal in a tight game, it's harder to score against a team that's engaged, aggressive and at least somewhat willing to put pressure on puck carriers. Can't give skilled players ridiculous amounts of time with the puck like that. Colorado made a similar mistake last night.

I would say that it was a penalty, but an unintentional one. Trip was caused by a collision of the skates, which was initiated by Nylander.

I think if it was in a different zone and it didn’t result in an immediate odd man rush then the refs might have let it go.

Couple of tough penalties for Sweden though, like you say. Over the glass, pretty honest mistake, then you get a somewhat incidental one where a forward is defending a forward on a rush.
