Lets hope that doesn't happen. It would be a virtual goalie-roulette with three guys trying and none of them emerging as a number 1 goalie. I don't entirely trust Nurminen to be fit and on top of his game right now...

That's what the guys said before going onto the ice against Pelicans at the beginning of the season. Then Pasi stopped 50/52 shots. A game.

Because Nurminen doesn't have any games under his belt?

First goal was "catchable" but I can't blame Bäckström for all of it.
And second, well.. Yeah. It was Nikkes goal.

But I would prefer keeping warmed up goalie instead of bringing cold one after only two goals.

Suprising to hear Finland scoring goals...but an offensive tempo favors the Russians :teach:

Well, we did score three goals against Canada (plus one disallowed) ;)

Yes...Finland was very proficient in scoring goals after the whislte was blown. :propeller

What the hell is Finland doing? Nothing? Their shot total has been the same for a long time now :shakehead

Datsyuk's goal was a beauty..

Sokolov is looking absolutely terrible, but the rest of the Russian's are flying out there. Plenty of scoring opportunities by the Ovechkin-Malkin-Afinogenov line, Malkin had the best shift I've seen him have this tournament just before but twice he tried to pass/deke when he was in a prime opportunity to shoot!

Team Russia put up a real pressure in the Team Finland defensive zone. Luckily they scored only once. They had three or four open chances. Not at all good period for team Finland. Bäckström continued to be shaky.

Awful period by Finland. No other words to describe it.

Why on earth are the boys not making any hits? The Russians dont like to be hit, arent used to being hit, why doesnt the team that shook Canada with hits hit them? Beyond belief.

Nikke hoovered that shot by Datsyuk in, time to change goalies. And Peltonen, could we scratch him? He's done nothing all game.

I wouldn't say he hoovered it in. It was a perfect shot but Bäckström was ready for it. In these tournaments, a goalie has to be ready the whole game. Not just parts of it.

That period was like CCCP-Finland from mid 80´s, except that Russia made only one goal. :shakehead Hopefully Finland can muster some self-confidence during break and at least FIGHT!

Horrible period by Finland. But what the Russians did with the puck was unreal. So nice to watch. I really don't know for whom to cheer. Let's cheer for both. More fun that way. Go, hockey,go!

Are the guys skating? If not, it is impossible to hit anybody, especially the fast Russians.

This is what we get when we have to play with our no.7 goalie...Russians really schooled us there.

If we get through, Bäckas has to keep the confidence and not get swapped away... that's where we've gone wrong year after year after year...

right, and it was a huge mistake to pull Kipper and insert Nurminen in Russia in 2001?
(after Kipper sucked in a shot from the red line mind you..)

The goaltending has been so bad that they would be better off playing with extra skater the whole 60mins.
