Agree, Salomonsson played well also occasionally. But I´m still upset...Predatore said:Kronblom,
I think Jörgen Jönsson had a strong game. Höglund was good the first 2 periods.
Lidström was awful, -4 today.

Swedes have a lot to learn from the North American teams and their 'never surrender' attitude. Swedes simply can't play with the lead. It seems as soon as they run into any kind of resistance, the very second they come under prolonged pressure by opposing forwards -- they buckle, they succumb, they simply vanish. These are Stanley Cup champions, Olympic gold medalists, the elite of the elite in the world, and yet at the slightest sign of increased effort from the opposition, they prostrate themselves like a bunch of 5-dollar hookers on pay day.
Disgraceful. They don't deserve a gold medal; Canada does.

He improved his "average" a little with this Silver
But he needs to go he dont have the Charisma to become a winner. Sweden have had enough suffering under this coach.
He ranked tied for 2nd worst among ALL alltime head coaches in Sweden prior to this tournament. And after all these years still no Gold in any championship, he NEEDS to go.
There comes a time when you just have to do it and he have been given too many chances. Sweden needs him gone so we can get a win sometime before NASA starts a mission to Pluto

I'm not at all surprised however I am surprised in how the way they lost the game. The word bad isn't nearly enough to describe how the defense was playing. It was pretty bad against the US too but thanks to the yanks inability they came out victorious anyway. This of course doesn't hold up against the canadians who actually had a real scorer on the team (Heatley). Well done Canada, you deserved the win.

Rabid Ranger said:On one hand I wish the U.S. had a few more finishers, as that could have made the differance against Sweden yesterday, and made things easier against Slovakia today, but on the other hand, this was such a hard working team with great chemistry it was probably for the best the line-up was as it was.
onice said:To the Swedes: you guys win the silver and you say your coach won nothing?!?!?!? Jeeze, you're a difficult bunch to please. You forget that there were other great hockey countries that really won nothing (i.e. Czech Republic, Russia, Slovakia, Finland). Right now there are 7 countries that can field elite teams in hockey. And in a few more years there'll probably be 3 or 4 more. A silver is nothing to sneeze at. I congratulate the Swedes on a good game and providing the world with some great players.
Predatore said:Agreed. He had an excellent tournament. I only think he is to blame for one of the 5 goals tonight though, but honesly I can't remember the last time the Swedish defense was this brutal. The strange thing is that this d is really strong on the paper and played well until Lidström joined.
Perhaps I am the only one, but I actually think Lidström saw too much ice-time in the two games.
