Injury Report: Wayne Simmonds out up to 6 weeks (Upd. Broken Wrist)

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
I don't think he will often have the multi-game goal scoring streak like he did pre-injury, but I think he's better than 0 goals in 12 games.

Just like I don't expect to see Simmonds score as he has in the past 5 games over an entire season, but it would suck to see him go 0 for 12 when he returns.

He's less of a risk for a long goalless streak, he doesn't need hands to have Marner bank a couple PP goals in off him.

I think your math is off Bennett 19pts/30 games = 0.63PPG/0.36 GPG. Willie 15/20 = 0.6 PPG/0.2 GPG (not even factoring TOI). Bennett better numbers in a larger sample size as well. Anyway I am not comparing the two as Willie is clearly the better player. My point is that Bennett has not had a nothing career as Zeke claims.
Correct I did his penalty minutes as games played.
I think if we scratch their career playoff numbers as they are pretty much the same and then that leaves us the regular season and that's a no brainer

A career nothing is your opinion only. Strange you being a numbers guy.

Sam Bennett 30 Playoff games 11 goals 8 assists 19 points 38 PIM. In comparision, Sweet Sexy Willie has 5 goals, 10 assists and 4 PIM in 25 playoff games. We need players that show up when it counts and he has a reputation of doing just that.
Not trying to argue with you over wanting Bennett, I want him myself, but if your argument is to compare his 19 points in 30 playoff games, to Nylanders 15 points in 25 games shows that he is a playoff performer, then your argument really doesn't have any legs to stand on.

19 points in 30 games is .63 points per game.
15 points in 25 games is .6 points per game.

He is not in any sense of the word on a nice contract. Especially for this team.

If you are like me, someone who believes that he could be a 20 / 20 player, with jam, in the right situation, 2.5 million isn't a lot of money...

What do I define as the "right" situation? The wing opposite Nylander, centered by Tavares, with Kerfoot's current minutes on thr powerplay.

Basically what people hoped Vesey and Mikheyev could be, while adding a physical dimension to the roster... Essentially, I think he could be another Zack Hyman. As a 24 old, Hyman had 15 goals and 25 assists. One has to wonder if Sam Bennett's situation would be much, if any, different had he been drafted into a different situation. He had 18 goals and 18 assists as a 19 year old.

Nylander miles the better player during the season but not so much in the playoffs. My argument is that he elevates his game in the playoffs which we have been lacking. He also brings sandpaper and compete that we lacked in the playoffs last year. If the price is right, it is a no brainer IMO.

We have the best power play in the league and a large part of that is having 2 solid lines.
Why would you want to change that?
What’s the point of having a solid 2nd unit when they hit the ice with 20 seconds left in the PP?
