What a beauty, this guy.
Yeah, Pierre Houde is a beauty
I think the impact of Carrier is underestimated; he puts everyone in the right chair . Matheson doesnt need to play 30 minute games with Carrier and Hutson taking on defensive and offensive missions. Struble and Wifi have less responsibilities, which is perfect. Marc Denis (color commentator for habs games on RDS) made some good points that even Guhle was noticeably better with Carrier at his side.

I'm especially impressed that Savard and Laine havent played the last 3 games and you can't really tell.
when most of the fans are saying that the impact of Carrier is underestimated, doesn't that mean that in fact, his impact isn't underestimated ? :badidea:

He's slowly becoming one of my favourite players on the team. The goals are nice, but if you watch him closely. He just seems to do all the little things, that normally go unnoticed.
He must be re-signed. You don't lose a player like that for a hope and prayer prospect. Unless Hughes gets very same shutdown guy who can also do violence and a 1st. That's the only reason I'd trade Jake.

I'm reading that Monty played a bad game. I really don't see it. Did he play Dobes-ish like? No, but he was good enough for us to win. In saying that, I'd like to see Dobes get the next start.
He might want back that 1st one from Miller, but overall like you said still managed to make a few stops when we were down to keep things close.

As for the weekend, I don't know why, but I'm thinking Monty in Washington and Dobes at home to Dallas

Agreed, couldn't have said it better myself.

That's going to be two tough games back to back. I'd probably do the same. Or flip a coin lol

I bet you Shoresy gave a speech in the locker room before the game, and Ghule decided he was the man that would set the tone.
What a beauty !!!
yeah, Guhle was something else last night. He should play like that every night. But he needs to build up these chicken legs more like MSLs. And take some fighting lessons from Xhekaj. Arbs and Strubs were brutes too. Loved it!

His "expected goal saved above average" was -2 for that game, that's a bad night for a goalie. He also didn't look fully there in the part I watched either (first half of the game)...which is also when the Canucks were the most dangerous.

Agreed, he did let in some questionable goals. For me I noticed that he did make some key saves late in the game. I just think that with Dobes having two great starts. The microscope on Monty has intensified. I'd say his start was more average than bad.

Montembeault is Huet.

A nice little find that comes in and provides some stretches of goaltending to provide an adequate bridge to the next great Habs goalie (Dobes or Fowler or Volokhin).

I finally zeroed in on the vibe I've had for him for awhile.
Good description. I"d also add that he's been a good soldier for us. Plays hurt, never complains. I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that he'd be a great help/mentor to any of our young goalie prospects.

If Guhle and Hutson are gonna play games like that
We're gonna be in a lot of hockey games, that was just special man

And add a 6"4 240 Xhekaj discovering himself as a full time reliable NHLer as our bottom pair LDman

LD is pretty much wrapped up for the next 10 years sheesh, now for RD..
Dude,

RB and Demidov aren’t even here yet.
