I almost never post in here, but it's the 40th anniversary of the release of one of the best albums ever recorded.

One of the greatest experiences in life is being exposed to a band that is totally in line with your taste yet you have, somehow, never heard them. Thanks Jojo.

Kathy Ireland. Swimsuit edition. Young mja discovering things.

Then I went to college and there was a girl there who was a dead ringer for Kathy Ireland, if only an anvil had been dropped on her head and squished her into a roughly oompa loompa shape. It was really unfortunate.

As for Billy Joel, I grew up in a household that played his stuff constantly, along with Rod Stewart, who my mother adored. So yeah, I once owned a copy of whatever album We Didn't Start the Fire was on and knew all the words. In my defense, I was in middle school.
OT but I clicked on the thread and it took me to page 1. What a time to be alive. @Captain Dave Poulin

Great song. But also one of the best "hot summer night" feelings to a song ever.

Also such a bizarre structure. No real chorus. Two verses.

Even though I consider myself a decent writer - f*** I wish I could write anything in my life as good as this...

Lit up like a Christmas tree, the oil refinery glows in the night;
and down by the shoreline the seagulls fly white, against the black.
The great moon riding shotgun - rolling out across the veil of clouds,
and you were small, and lying awake listening to the noises in the house.
With the best of them you ran, like all of us, in our season
Casting memory aside - your history, all forgotten;
driven onwards through the years in love with each distraction.
But all the while, the past is close behind;
like headlights on your tail, headlights on your tail.

Your pulse is beating faster now, like a bird flying hard against the wind;
trying to understand all the crazed compulsions that you feel.
And all the little jealousies and betrayals, they echo in the dark;
and somewhere back through it all, the key is still turning in the lock.
Now the ghosts that you have laid, they all come out to greet you;
the knowledge that you've gained - well, none of this protects you.
You've been so very far, still peace will not embrace you,
for all the while the past is close behind.
Like headlights on your tail, headlights on your tail.

@JojoTheWhale I just now found out that Steely Dan song is addressed to someon named "Peg," and that one line that clearly says "It's your very foreign movie" is supposed to say "It's your favorite foreign movie." They wrote the f***ing song - you'd expect them to know what to sing.
Yesterday was Scrambled Eggs.... just saying

Evidently Joe Jackson is touring. Normally I’d prefer a better sound quality but this particular night He seemed to a bit more quirky than he was in other videos I chose from. Is it more quirky or quirkier?
