Glad I was away from my desk... I'd probably have cried. So many memories crash back from Linger.

I'm glad that and Fade Into You was in the same set. Sweet release

The Cranberries was probably the first time, being I was a child just getting into more adult forms of music at that time, to see a female fronting a rock band. One reason I have I'll Stand By You so high as well.

Nothing like walking through Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.... Getting into the Ireland section and having a show being done right in the midway by a trio guy with a bodhran, guy on guitar and lass with a fiddle. Her playing and singing Linger was just mesmerizing.

HOLY SHIT...Cyndi Lauper at 56 with The Hooters... Time After Time. Yes that is Rob on backing vocals.

Does that station have an older audience?
It's a weird station. It's a college station, but it's professionally run and has a massive reach. Their format is a little all over the place with lots of specialty programming (some of which is quite cool) but the default would be what you're seeing here - lots of folky adult alternative contemporary whatever you want to call it. But then out of the blue they'll play Teenage Riot or Ceremony or something like that.

They rarely play stuff like Taylor Swift and I feel reasonably confident that when they played Evanescence earlier, it was the first time they had ever played it.
Linger by the Cranberries is #59, sooo I hope Zombie is ahead of it.
I'm actually not a huge Cranberries fan - I like them just fine - but Zombie will definitely be coming up later. It's their most recognizable song and the weighty subject matter won't hurt it.

Based on their playlist search, Taylor has shown up, but usually playing with someone else, specifically the recent song with the National, and Bon Iver, but still infrequent. Rarely just her on her own, and 5 times ever before 2020. The search goes back to at least July 31, 2010.

And you're right on Evanescence.

I feel confident about it, but I have default anxiety after the Losing My Religion injustice of 2020. I was just talking to someone about that when they didn't understand why I'd question that Fade Into You wouldn't made it. It didn't make it in 2020 either. And the list that year was not 885, it was 2,020.

I am wondering if Fast Car by Tracy Chapman gets in.... Especially with the country cover this year.
Oh yeah. Top 20 I'm betting.

I couldn't tell you what I think the top 20 songs are without having a list in front of me of what's not played, but that's coming.

Depends a lot on which host you're listening to. In the early evening Dan Reed plays a lot of newer indie, alternative, along with 80's post-punk and punk. Then he has Johns Dollar Bin every Thursday around 5:20 PM, which is probably my favorite thing on the whole station.

Dan Reed is probably the best listen on XPN. His musical tastes are almost too broad and he plays literally almost anything and everything.

Man, I hope Bjork snuck into the top 40-50.

2 Kate Bush songs
7 Joni
2 Brandi Carlile at least
Some Carole King and Aretha
1 Tay I guess
Still some Patti Smith out there
Bonnie Raitt
A few in the 60's

That's at least 25 songs, half of what's left, and I have 2 of them still.

What was the highest Chvrches song? The two I've heard that I like the best are "California" and "Forever."
