I can't do favorite songs, much less by year. I mean I have a bunch over the years, but it's not how I listen to music.
I'm a fossil, I'm album/CD oriented, except for groups that were born to be summarized in a greatest hits collection (b/c they wrote "radio" songs that didn't flow on an album). Now back in the old days (when there was still snow), we used to listen to album sides, about 20-22 minutes, because you had to flip the record. Then the CD came along, and it might be 35-70 minutes. Then streaming (and YouTube), where the musician knows the song must stand on its own - which strangely enough, is sort of a throw back to AM radio, where a song had 3 minutes to invade the listener's brain - because people actually bought 45s which were 3-4 minutes a side.
Different sensibility.
