Meh. I still hate it. It’s a dumb name, and I’m bummed they are sticking with it

Damn rightIt's still basically half of the people polled other than Commanders fans, who are still only at 62% partly due to copium.
People are warming up to it because of time and probably buying some gear after a good season. There's less shame in it.
But it's a tenuous grip. If the Harris group came out today with a tweet saying "would fans be open to changing the name?" the response would probably be at least 80% HELL YES RIGHT NOW.
I think that's kind of the point though. Even sidestepping the Native American issue completely, the Redskins name for the vast majority of people (myself included) is more associated with the 25 years of futility and embarrassment of the Snyder Era than the glory days from before. The name is okay to me but it just feels like a separate team from the Redskins. I remember legends like Russ Grimm being interviewed and they didn't really feel tied to the Commanders because everything they did and represented was with the Washington Redskins. I know the HOG is trying to tie into the past and history and bring all the legends back, but at the end of the day it does feel like they are two separate entities. Sheehan had a good point on this too, that if it was still the Redskins and you had the season last year the hype would be much greater than it was.
Redskins and championships is what many of us know.I think that's kind of the point though. A little bit more of a tie in with the past (particularly the uniforms going back to basically carbon copies of what they once were but with a different helmet logo) would be great, but I for one am more than happy to be separated from Snyder for good. Jaden Daniels and Dan Quinn and Adam Peters and Josh Harris put together the best season in generations as Commanders, that's good enough for me.
I won’t hate the name as much if they give me back the jerseys. Our old jerseys were perfect. It’d be like changing the Canadiens jerseys.
The name blows…..”Redskins” isn’t a Snyder thing. Their approval ratings mean nothing when you’re coming up from embarrassing levels.
Commanders screams Snyder to me..and I don’t like it.Commanders is terrible, always has been, always will be. No amount of winning will ever change that.
Foreal, it was Snyders last FU to usShould have just left it Football Team with the sell already in process.

And Rivera, who was a big influence on the name and was a proponent of something connected to the military.Commanders screams Snyder to me..and I don’t like it.
I can’t get on board with “the others are shit, so this is ok”. And I don’t believe for a second that there are no good alternatives. The problem is, if not Commanders, then what? All the good, basic names are taken.
Washington is terrible with names, really bad with logos, and even worse with branding.
I mean, the basketball team is red, white and blue and called Wizards. The football team is burgundy and gold and called Commanders. There is zero cohesion between name and design. The Wizards logo is hideous and the Commanders is the letter W.
The Nationals and Capitals are generic names with red, white and blue color schemes. Definitely better but not exactly earth shattering either.
I’ve become fine with Commanders, but part of that is because it’s better than Wizards or Sea Dogs. It could have been even worse. It’s almost like the focus groups for the region are filled with people who suffer from design palsy… and the final decision makers are somehow even worse.
