OT: Washington Commanders 2025-26 thread | Football is fun again Edition

Flag football seems like a hell of a way to get a season ender though. It happens, but you’d kind of wish it would be playing a sport that people actually care about.

Why would there even be a Flag Football Olympic event, if the NFL players are in it. Just send the gold to the US and don't bother with the staged, phony games. No other country is going to compete for a gold in FF if the NFL players are on the US team.

Meh, I'm of 2 minds on it.

1) Learn to defend against it. It seems chickenshit to just ban it. Two guys can gang up on a tackle, why can't 2 guys gang up on a run?

vs.

2) It should not be legal to carry or assist any runner. Why not allow WRs to lift each other up to make a tower of WR that no DB can reach while we're at it? Or just have a 340lb lineman physically carry a small player with the ball over the line?

Either way unless someone comes up with a reasonable counter measure then there will be a lot of boring 4th downs and goal line possessions this year, again.

Eh offense has had things legislated out in their favor so many times the last 20 years I feel like the defense should get something thrown their way too.

Why stop there? Google Mike Leach little person… :sarcasm:

I don’t think it’s a football play - it’s rugby. If they’re gonna keep it, they need to allow defenders to push one another to counter it. Let LBers push the DTs. I’ve heard it explained that that’s the only real way to counter the weight and leverage coming their way. Or intentionally go after the center without concern of being offside (which is dirty obviously).

I also think it leads to injuries. Both Eagles centers were hurt at one point last year. Someone is gonna get seriously hurt being pushed at the bottom of that pile. All for a boring play.

I give the Eagles credit for creativity, and it’s really only an automatic play for them. If it was as easy for every team, then I’d imagine there would be more support to ban it (since it would be a league-wide anticlimactic play).

The way to end the tush push, since the league is too stupid to do it, is to target Hurts every time. Let them get the yardage but pile, step, punch, stomp, spear, mutilate and otherwise maim him every time they run it. You get a free yard. We get a free shot on your QB while he’s a runner in a scrum.

I’d even go so far is to have two or three low paid linebackers with violence issues on the bottom of the roster. Have them run 50-yards and try and time it up. Absolutely unload on Hurts every time they call the play.

That will make them debate the call since it’s free yardage either way. Exact a toll.

It will get banned next year. They were only two owners short this year.

The following 10 teams reportedly saved the tush push by voting against the proposal:

  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Cleveland Browns
  • Detroit Lions
  • Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Miami Dolphins
  • New England Patriots
  • New Orleans Saints
  • New York Jets
  • Tennessee Titans

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that 7 of those teams are in the AFC.

Meaning? Let the NFC teams beat each other up?
Meaning that they are only going to get the eagles once every 3 or 4 years most likely so what do they really care. Plus outside of the Ravens none of them are near term contenders who could realistically expect to have to deal with it in the Super Bowl any time soon.

Tis the season for... should we :silly:

Easy pass on Ramsey... unless we trade Lattimore. Even if he looks great in camp expect him to miss games and take many penalties. The worst, tap out of games injured in the 1st. As an opposition OC I am going deep on him to start games. Before that hammy gets warmed up.
