OT: Washington Commanders 2025-26 thread | Football is fun again Edition

At times, Williams said he would watch film alone, with no instruction or guidance from the coaches. "No one tells me what to watch," Caleb Williams told his dad. "I just turn it on."

Great coaching…

That’s insane at that level. How is the QB coach and/or the OC not sitting there with him dissecting film?

"I was told I couldn’t (draft Diggs) by the owner, he was sitting next to me when the scouts told me about him. I wanted Diggs. He was the highest-rated guy on my board at the time."

Sounds about right. FO was blocked multiple times by owner / Bruce Allen who wanted them to pick someone else. Happened many times.

Most notable example was when the FO wanted to pick someone else but the word came down from Snyder. "Take the Quarterback" (Dwayne Haskins)

Diggs was like a 3rd rounder and a Terp and a home town kid. I wanted him that draft as well hes like one of my all time favorite Terps.
Makes me even more mad he was hovering over 3rd round picks. No wonder we got no NFL players until he was gone.

EDIT: Diggs was a 5th rounder! Danny was blocking us making 5th round picks

Boy that guy went from being on the brink of being fired at the start of last year to a multi-year, likely multi-million $ contract after the Eagles SB victory. What's the saying: "Now that Lou Gehrig is dead, Nick Sirianni's the luckiest guy alive".?

Athletes should always be allowed to play for their country.
Flag football seems like a hell of a way to get a season ender though. It happens, but you’d kind of wish it would be playing a sport that people actually care about.

Kyle Smith (I think it was him at least) really wanted Montez Sweat, which is why they traded back into the first for him.

I don’t remember who the front office person was but I distinctly remember the player they wanted to pick was Sweat.

I'm not going to worry about NFL players dropping down to flag football. If they get hurt doing the "nerfed" version of their own sport then that's just how it goes.

Trip to Madrid for the Dolphins game looks reasonable now, need to do some more homework and see what the ticket prices are but it's definitely doable

Is anyone else planning on going

Who was the RB….for the skins I believe, that blew out his knee playing that or beach volleyball? Pretty much a career ending injury before his career really began. Wanna say it was during Olympics or pro bowl.

Robert Edwards…..Patriots star RB just off a rookie season of 1500+ yards, and 13 combined TDs. Playing 4 on 4 flag football at the Pro Bowl. His leg was decimated.

Thinking about it. We’re going to Europe earlier in the fall though so not sure life will allow us to take two trips across the pond in a three month period.

Yep and they stopped doing it soon after I’m pretty sure because it certainly wasn’t worth the risk.

If I’m an NFL player I’m not sure how much an Olympic gold for flag football rates from a risk/reward standpoint. More than pro bowl 4v4 on the beach? Sure but that much more?

I feel pretty confident that NFL players could treat that like a no contact scrimmage and win. No extra risks, almost practice rep level…

It’s Dream Team Basketball, they can try once every few plays at random and blow guys out of the water because of the concentration of talent here. Worst case a good handful of other NFL guys report for secondary countries but I feel pretty sure they can play actively avoiding injury and be crazy productive anyway, and it would take something freakish to ruin that
