Film evaluation

While Croskey-Merritt is undersized by NFL standards, he is sturdy — and possesses excellent speed. He is a downhill runner whose start-stop ability is better than his RAS numbers indicate. His biggest strengths include his contact balance and his understanding of angles — not just on runs where he needs to get to the edge, but also in how he absorbs contact from defenders.

He is excellent at slightly changing the angle of his body at the moment of contact, which causes defenders to glance off. He also displays great vision, which allows him to read his blockers and see what is coming before it actually appears. He has a nose for the goal line, displaying a strong motor to finish runs. He can get every last inch of what the defense will give him — and then some.

One other thing to note: in over half a decade of college football, he didn’t put the ball on the ground even once.

Just the same, he isn’t a perfect prospect. Despite his effort (and willingness to engage), he is undersized. His kick-return experience — always an important issue for an NFL rookie — is very limited. He struggles in pass protection — something he will have to figure out if he is going to be a three-down back at the next level.

The Seahawks score was boosted by signing my secret crush, Nick Emmanwori, who had a RAS score of perfect 10!

Here's our guys:

He'll likely be a PR KR at first and fight with Luke for 4th WR reps.

Yeah, I see him in Crowder's spot, so not a threat to Luke's place on the team, but will have the opportunity to push him for reps. Focus on being a special teams standout, prove everything else in practice and relief.

He looks to me of an in the box SS who can cover TEs well, but he's a big liability in run defense.

Same as above. All the athleticism in the world to play special teams, then you dare him to convert to SS or prove it at LB. That tweener size but high athleticism and motor says "anything but linebacker," but the game's changing all the time, leaning toward speed, so who knows what he might become?

With these types of guys this year, it comes back to that AP quote you guys have brought up a bunch -- we can analyze what they were in college all we want, but they see a fit somewhere in their roster that probably isn't obvious to us.

Just feels easy to trust this process right now. It's *not* an arms race with the Eagles. It's like the best fight trainers in the world -- all you're doing is figuring a way to beat the other guy; stop what he does best, execute what you do best. You don't have to be "better" on paper, just outmaneuver when the day comes...

Love the first 2 picks, am kinda' meh on the rest, BUT... it's because I had my own notions on what we "needed" to do and AP and team didn't agree. Unlike previous years, I know for a fact that they're better at this than I am, so...
