Meh. I thought we had addressed tackle fairly well with Tunsil and Coleman. I do think having a high skill pocket aware mobile QB minimizes the need to spend so many assets on tackles with other glaring holes... like at Edge. He seems a bit tall and light to be kicked inside. As a mere lowly peasant armchair fan, I concede to the opine of AP.

Most NFL draft analysis is pretty shallow. Here's who we think the best players are - here's who we think the teams need - and then mix and match as needed to make your mock draft and drive clicks.

It's clear that AP has a plan for this team that runs a lot longer than just the 2025 season, and one should evaluate draft picks with that same lens.

And for what it's worth, I think Connerly starts at RT for day one with Coleman kicking inside. It will be interesting to see what they do after 2026 when Tunsil's current contract runs out (extend? move Coleman to LT? or bring in someone else?).

Yeah, we get 2 years to see how Tunsil performs and see how the kids develop -- and where the team is -- before having to make a decision on extending him or not.
I believe once his current deal is up we'll still have 2 more years of JD's rookie deal before we have to make him the highest player in NFL history, so that'll factor into the decision, too.

Every time I see and hear Peters, the more impressed I am. So even-keeled, always on point, clearly relates so well with the players and the prospects.

If I'm a free agent or a rookie, if that guy's coming after me, I'm dying to sign with/get picked by him. Then you get to DQ, who has so many of those same traits, plus the fire -- what a freaking change in the culture.

We deserve these guys.

Good. Winning teams are built from the LOS outward, and if you have a young franchise QB you start with the OL.

I'd wager they move this guy to LG instead of RT and just keep JD's blindside completely locked down, while allowing the other players from last year to improve where they stand.

I suspect it's Coleman that moves to LG and Josh plays RT, while Wylie temps at RG while Cosmi is out. But, there's a lot of combinations that could work, and specifically there will be competition for the starting 5 OL. Competition, means depth. All good things.

I think this was a triple move of sorts. Adds a clear overall upgrade to the OL in the short term. But taking a starting OT kicks Coleman inside which helps with Cosmi out. So we got a guard, or at worst a swing tackle. Then when Tunsil's time is up (after asking 50M), we have our LT already in place.

We DEFINITELY need an edge now though. As much as we need Jayden protected, we need help on that defense even more after last year.

IF we can somehow... somehow move up and pick up Mike Green somehow, I would be ecstatic. It won't happen though, surely it won't! T.T

The standard disclaimer applies: if he can play on the NFL. 😉

But then, in the playoffs vs Penn State, Abdul Carter had no sacks, in 33 passing plays, and Oregon QB went 22/32 with 4 TD, 0 int. So he can probably play in the NFL.

From what I’ve seen though, he lines up all over, not just over the LT, so I’m not sure that stat line is as impressive as you’re making it out to be from our draftee’s perspective.

Premium position pick in RD 1 .. Ill always like it. 1st round is QB, WR, OT, WR, CB only territory (w exceptions)

Athletic tackles fit the need for athletic QB

Competition for starting RT in camp makes him and Coleman better

Cosmi insurance w torn ACL in playoffs .. we do not want Wylie starting

Chris Paul .. made 6 appearances last year no starts, if we can bump him down 1 so Wylie would get those snaps, cool. Ideally, next year Wylie and Paul are not on the 53. Paul may not make it this year and we re-structured Wylie so hes here this year no matter what.

the disrespect of Nick Allegretti will not stand, man

He played hurt and tough as f*** in the playoffs but yeah, if our starting OL is healthy, hes the weak link but still an average to above average starter imo

This OL ... need a C2 but its got talent and depth once Cosmi comes back

So, my scrub of round 2 mocks (this morning's browsing was GLORIOUS) has us taking Scourton, Oladejo, and Tuimoloau at 61 among ends.

Other drafts have us taking WR Bech, CBs S. Revel and A. Thomas, any of which I would be happy with.

Ideally, I'd love a trade down into the 3rd (while picking up hopefully a 5th), where DEs like Ivey, Kennard, L. Jackson, Umanmeilen and others should be available, along with a bunch of RBs.

That said, if either of the CBs above are there or if there's a run on RBs but Skattebo is still there, I'd probably stick and pick.

Revel or Thomas would be really great, too. Would instantly be our biggest CB, which is all kind of on the smaller size.

And man, I also don't know. Hopefully Marshon has a much improved and much healthier year, and Jonanthan Jones should help. But both are on the wrong side of 30.

We still got so many holes to fill on that side of the ball.

Fine, but AP talked specifically about how his analytics team pruduced numbers on his performance vs the top pass rushers and they really liked JCs results. It's not like the AP front office is @twabby just reading box scores, like me.

I’m not doubting AP so don’t try to swing this from you lol. I was just pointing out your stat line is likely deceiving. If he went 1-1 with Carter for 32 plays and shut him down, now that would be impressive, but I don’t think that’s what happened.

Allegretti is a tough SOB, a real warrior, but he's not a Pro Bowl caliber talent. He gives up a lot of pressure. If he ends up being in the top 5, he'll start. Competition is a good thing.

If anyone follows Ben Standig from The Athletic he's been bringing up the possibility of them going OL for a while now, feels like he definitely had some inside info lol. Overall I like it. It's a premium position where you can never have too much talent. There's also a big drop off between the 1st round guys and the rest of the class this year (as opposed to edge or even corner).

Very funny seeing people claim that we have somehow upgraded the OL too much after spending all of last summer straight through the season freaking out about how little talent was there.
