Washington 50th Anniversary Cherry Blossom Jerseys (to be auctioned)

The blue eagle jersey from the late 90's is their best.

This looks even more blue. Great jersey, though I'm not sure why the flowers.
It’s just a practice jersey with new logo.

Many teams do these type of things and auction them via nhl auctions for some benefit of charities. Before the nhl cowardly got rid of theme nights teams would wear these for warmup and auction them off, usually signed as warm up worn with appropriate certificates of authenticity.

Now they just sell them and they usually the import type practice jerseys and not the actual made in Canada pro weight jerseys, for most it doesn’t matter, but for jersey collectors the loss of warm up jerseys is a blow to the hobby.

They're cherry blossoms. DC is known for cherry trees. There are a lot of them. They are quite pretty. Japan gifted a large number of them to the US capital in the early 20th century. Some tie-in to the myth about the guy who the city is named for and an axe, perhaps. The Nationals' "City Connect" jerseys also prominently features cherry blossoms.

That color scheme is gorgeous (the brighter blue really pops with the copper) and I’ll always be fond of the Screaming Eagle logo. The blossoms are cool for a one-off. Though I think the Nats do the cherry blossoms the best.

Would love to see a full game jersey version (minus the blossoms) as a Retro Reverse jersey
