Well the first part is if you don’t like the second part. Not sure how they compare to today is really relevant to my point...

Larry Murphy is also underrated, played for very good teams late in his career but was also a very good player. Played a big role behind each of the four cups he won. Orr won two in 12 years while also playing for very good teams.Larry Murphy has 18 40 point seasons
Bobby Orr only has 10 20 point seasons
Murphy also way ahead in career points.
Are you trying to say that Orr was a 'flash in the pan' type player?Larry Murphy has 18 40 point seasons
Bobby Orr only has 10 20 point seasons

no, i was using the same argument the guy above me was for why Gartner was a better goalscorer than Bure.... at least at the time i thought he was saying that. He has since clarified a bit.Are you trying to say that Orr was a 'flash in the pan' type player?
Ron Francis retired 18th in career goals, never finished higher then 37th in a season. How many other players have their career rank in a major category (goals - 8th all time) higher than all but one single season finish (5th, 9th, 9th, 9th, 10th are best finishes).
That would have to be extremely rare and make a clear comparable difficult.
Yes and No.He was very consistent in his career and was just shy of being a PPG player. Still put 1300+ pts. He was never a teams superstar but he was such a well rounded player. So was he underrated?
