Walman was promising young defenseman and we got him pretty much for nothing, he was our second best defender then Yzerman pay to trade him away and now he got moved again. There is something wrong with him, we just don't know what is it. Bad influence on younger players?
He got moved again because the team got a 1st round pick for him which is fantastic value. A cup contender added him to bolster their blueline. There's nothing to indicate there's any issue with him apart from random rumors only in Detroit.

Given the fact that this locker room has now collapsed in March for the 3rd straight year, I'm not sure that Walman not fitting in with these guys is even a bad thing.

This thread needs to die soon lol

Was listening to Walman on HNIC 'After Hours' last night and seemed pretty straightforward about who he is and what he brings. Called himself a "big personality" and said he loves to grow the game by influencing kids enamoured by the "Griddy" dance. He said gets lots of love for being that guy and he enjoys it. Open about his love for gaming to which they showed clips of him in his home and showing off his sneaker collection. Interesting listening to him honestly. I've always liked After Hours, but they didn't go into much personal or family stuff at all with Walman like they do with others

If he was wanted out by the boys in the locker room, then Yzerman decided it was worth it to grant that wish I guess. We'll never truly know. Maybe he likes being different and Detroit wasn't willing to accept that in their culture? If they don't, that's their perceived value of him despite his on-ice performances, to which were not incredible down the final stretch as a Red Wing despite what some want to believe him to be

It's tiring hearing how "bad" this trade was, mainly from neutral fans though. You'd thought we traded Seider and a 2nd for the corpse of ME Vlasic lol. It is what it is, but just turn the page really. This trade will not alter the course of our franchise. Bad asset management? Quite possibly, but consider he just received that 2nd rounder for free and then freed up cap space to which we still needed to sign #53 and #23. Maybe he was worth more being on our roster. Again, who knows? Who really cares at this point?

Good luck to him in Edmonton. I'm happy to see Walman prove us wrong for moving him, honestly

Funny how this thread was buried for nearly 2 months and suddenly resurfaces during a losing streak.

I agree with @Our Lady Peace this thread needs to die. It's been discussed ad nauseum: bad asset management, locker room cancer, yada-yada. At best, Yzerman could have gotten a draft pick for him that half of you would be bitching about who got selected with the pick.

Edit: for the record, I thought it was a bad move. I don't know the details though and I ceased caring. This team is no better with Walman still on it.
