They have the cap space to claim him right now. He would be good depth for the bottom 6 but we have no use for him next year or his contract.

The problem is we can’t count on being able to move him in the summer so claiming him now would be incredibly risky. And as much as I like Vladdy he has never been good in the postseason - he can’t handle the physicality. So picking him up at the TDL just doesn’t make any sense for us.

Leafs fan, but Tampa has space for next season and could very well prop him up again for a trade next year. They seem to do it over and over.

No, we don’t have space for him next year. Stick to what Leaf fans do best: drastically overrating your own players and prospects and wallowing in your persecution complex.
