Interesting take from Marco D’Amico about why Bellows would be a fit for the Habs:

The 24-year-old Bellows seems to be caught in the numbers game at forward with the New York Islanders and is looking for a fresh start. The Montreal Canadiens are currently looking to inject more youth at forward within their organization, and Bellows, a known goal-scorer who is strong on the transition, is more like the type of player the Canadiens are looking to acquire moving forward. …

Bellows looked to be in the process of taking off last season after he potted six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 45 games, but this season seemingly couldn’t get the same kind of deployment under new head coach Lane Lambert. With a coach like Martin St. Louis, who prioritizes quick transition and opening up shooting lanes, a player like Bellows would be more inclined to thrive in such a system than the Islanders’ more structured and defensive style.

Former 1st Round Pick Available To Canadiens On Waivers

Looking like Bellows will get claimed tomorrow, if the Habs pass on him.
Do we still get first dibbs on this guy?

Trying to understand what Lou is up to with the Isles. They only have six d on the roster so guess they want to make room to add one. Curious though why it wasn't Ross Johnston instead of Bellows. Isles are old up front, only 3 guys much under 30. Went to the Isles board and didn't see much concern about possibly losing Bellows.

Maybe but Johnston isn't in the lineup much. One game so far, not playing tonight in a game they need to win against the Rangers. They don't seem like a soft team without him. They are getting old though up front.

What is the risk if we were to claim him? Worst case scenario we try to send him down and he gets claimed.

The only question is if we have the roster spots available.

If we can dispose of Hoffman and pick up a young reclamation project, if he works out he would fit in well with our core.

We’ll find out at 2PM tomorrow.

I realize he’s a bust at this point, but he was a really good prospect and probably better/more potential upside than a lot of guys on the current roster. Pass on the bargain bin though.
I'm willing to risk losing Pezzetta on waivers for him. We can also waive Hoffman or Dadonov if we want to try something gutsier.

I'd love to see them pick up Bellows & send Hoffman to the AHL.

Dadonov has more of a shot at being moved for a late pick at some point, especially if we retain.

Hoffman has had all the chances. He really contributes nothing.

Activate Armia and waive Pez, pick up Bellows and send down Hoffman.

Slaf comes back in for Pitlick when ready. Armia plays until they get Bellows integrated into our system during practices, then Kieffer gets his chance. Or if Armia is better than Daddy, sit Daddy.

Even if he doesn't score, he bring a physical dimension we don't have a lot. I would be curious to see him next to Dach. PF take usually more time.

That being said, didn't saw him play that much the last couple yrs and won't be mad if they don't claim him.

Yes.

Dach needs a goal scorer with him, i’m not saying Bellows is an elite goal scorer in the NHL lol but he has a good enough shot to burry some passes from Dach.

Maybe he ends up no better than Hoffman, Dadonov, etc… but worth a shot?

We have wingers but it’s not like there’s much talent other than Caufield (and Monahan, Slaf).

Pick him up hughes. Bellows is a great pick up and it’s funny as soon as I saw he was placed on waivers I came here and this thread was top option. Great minds think alike!

Problem is we don’t have very good transition defensman to get behind the other teams defence in order to get bellows or anyone else for that matter in a good position to shoot off the rush. Dach is our best passer hands down.

Why??? Pezz Etta we need.. we can’t lose him he is the perfect character guy to go along with our identity. No thanks keep him. Crashes the net hits makes good decisions

Not surprised Bellows got claimed.

Wondering how HuGo valued him.

Turnover machine.

Can't always get lucky with goals off his head, skate, jockstrap.
