When they fired Colin Campbell and replaced him with John Muckler, Page referred to Muckler as “the Rangers latest coach”. Earlier that day, MSG decided to not renew his contract. Page went off on the Rangers. Campbell took the team to the ECF the previous May. It’s not his fault. Neil Smith is responsible for the roster.

When the Rangers signed Sakic to the offer sheet in 1997, the Yankees were on and they broke into the broadcast to announce the signing. Page was one who broke the news.

He was too honest.

MSG SportsDesk was good. Jenna Wolfe and Tracey Wolfson were the weekend anchors. They were just starting in the business. Deb Kaufman was also part of the desk. She was on ESPN2 when they first launched and then joined MSG.

Mike Crispino filled in for Page.

RangerBoy is the AskJeeves of HFNYR.

Ok. Going to date myself, but who knows which movie that is alluding to?

That guy is actually on tour this summer (Tim Cappello) and when people crap on Shumaker as a director solely for the two Batmans he did in the 90s, I always say you have to refer to Lost Boys and Falling Down.

@egelband just like @Leetch3 said, Bruce has been on NBS forever. Still very relevant in the NYSports scene and still has his pulse on the city.

I met him a fourth of July weekend 2010 in a parking lot. He was going to work out and I was getting friends for a BBQ. Really really nice guy. He was much taller and bigger than I imagined (he had to be like 6'2'' or 6'3'').

I listened to the Bob Page Podcast last night while doing laundry. It's mostly Detroit themed because Bullet was really a Detroit sports guy who spent about a decade in NY but he's exactly the same. Still has that very sarcastic attitude. Same voice. It's just funny hearing him talk about modern athletes and Beyond Meat. I might shoot him an email later this week. I was a huge fan of the guy, meant a lot to my childhood. Back in the days before internet when RFAs actually were offer sheeted (Glen Wesley, Brendan Shannahan, Adam Graves, Scott Stevens, and even later with Sakic and Fedorov) he always had the scoop. I remember the summer of 91 I was very young, the Flyers stunk, and Richter was an RFA. I was terrified they were going to offer sheet him. Page would often just say things were status quo.

Found his Twitter page, he explained like a previous poster why he left MSG:

This guy was awesome. he used to bag on the islanders constantly. " 5,000 fans rattling around the coliseum last night"

Oh my God that was awesome. SportsDesk was great, killing it was the first sign that Cocaine Jimmy (and when I see the Knicks in Philly I'm bringing a giant "Cocaine Jimmy" banner and attempt to get Embiid to pose with it) was going to turn MSG Network into crap. Anyone remember the one that aired right after the Golotta-Bowe riot?

I distinctly recall foiling his plans of world domination several times over the past 18 years.

"Aquinas spoke of the mythical City on the Hill. Soon that city will be a reality, and we will be crowned its kings. Or better than kings. Gods..."
Yeah, last I heard he was letting it spill over into the streets and people were begging him to save them.
