I like the guy as well and think everyone picking 10+ should be happy to draft him, because I think he's a pretty safe pick.

But skates like the wind?! Hell no, he's an average skater at best.

Agree - maybe a bit better than average, lets face it - everyone looks slow when Ehlers is out there. :D

But Meier's strength is more puck protection than skating IMO. He battles hard on the boards and defenders have a lot of trouble taking the puck from him.

I really feel like Timo will end up being a top 6, potentially top 3 player. He has skills, size, strength, and a game that will translate well to the NHL. Watching him the last two games live... was a treat. Wasn't quite the puck hog that Ehlers is, and isn't as fast, but he can take over the ice.

Meier with the winning goal in double OT tonight.

Then followed it up with an NHL calibre terrible hockey interview.

He was fantastic tonight. Looking very good in the playoffs. When you have 2 players in the Q like Meier and Ehlers they can just take over games and move you further in the playoffs just based off their individual performances. They must have had like 40 mins? Meier had 16 shots on goal tonight.

He was really great tonight. Gotta love how several times he just shakes of the defenders and powers his way to the net. And there was that one time where he just flat out rammed the goalie, no attempt to get out of the way at all, just good old-time playoff hockey.

Glad he is doing well. He is on the list of players I hope the Flyers select with their 1st pick in round one. It has been some time since I have seen such a deep draft as this one is shaping up to be.

He has definitely ramped it up in the playoffs. He was averaging about 5 shots per game in the regular season and is now close to 8 per game. I think this kid is just going to be a really good pro and i don't think it is going to take him long to make the NHL.

It's really impressive just how good he is protecting the puck. Not just because he's strong either, he always just seems to get the edge with positioning. Meier is not a player who takes the puck and just blindly heads towards the net, he knows the little things that need to be done to beat defenders.

I see a lot of fans here saying they want to avoid Meier, and I don't understand it. Ok put aside his great numbers this year because he plays in the Q and with Ehlers. But he looked very good at the WJC and looked great in the Top Prospects game. I don't think he's top 10 but I do think he's solidly in the 11-15 group.

I think his upside is more limited than other players available in that range so I think that's where the not wanting to draft comes from. He works hard every shift, can play physical and pot goals, he's a coaches dream but guys like Connor, Svechnikov and Merkley have more upside imo.

Personally I feel Timo has more upside than Merkley and I don't think it's really all that close.

Haven't seen Svechnikov or Connor enough to comment on them.

Definitely, which makes me sad as an Oiler fan.

I hope the Jets can take him with their 1st pick but I doubt he will be on the board.

Not sure if this has been asked or not but for those that have seen both in juniors, how similar/different is Meier to Landeskog? I see they have similar size/weight and think there could be done other similarities based on descriptions I've read.

Hey we've been giving chances for the last 2 drafts. Been taking smaller skill guys like Morrissey, Petan and Ehlers with our early picks. ;)

That's why you guys will have a good team, you have balance while our GM will likely draft more of the same of what we already have.
