So if the Canucks release him from his PTO, then Blais reports directly to Abbotsford without going on waivers? But I suppose he could shop his services to other NHL teams before he reports to the AHL.

He might be decent injury insurance to have stashed in Abbotsford.

He would report straight to the AHL - but any NHL team can sign him to a contract at any time.

Like his size, we need to play a heavier game. Good depth player, hope he’s our 13th/14th forward.

Currently…
Canucks are 14th in height (73.3)
Canucks are 14th in weight (199.4)

His legs are completely shot. It was like watching Dekeyser where you could see the brain making NHL player decisions but the feet totally unable to execute those decisions or keep up with the play.
Sammy Blais has sustained at least a couple of serious knee injuries that I'm aware of, and the recovery time can be long and slow, particularly for a bigger guy like Blais.

He was definitely laboring at times out there......but he's still a decent bet to stockpile in Abbotsford. Playing 18-20 minutes a night in all situations might mean he can recover that skating edge that he had in St. Louis. Sill a worthwhile gamble by the Canucks.
