These are the kind of "late round" steals that should make everyone happy

He was mostly unknown when he was drafted by Quebec in 2021. Scouts weren't travelling because of the pandemic. They had to rely on video and his agent's word. He arrived in Quebec and showed potential. He had a good first season but everything was new : the language, the culture, the rink size. That first season was also his NHL Draft year. His development made leaps over the past 3 seasons.

Seva is a winner in life, maybe he should have been appointed Lindy’s assistant? :sarcasm:

It's going to be very interesting to see where Komarov lands when we do the summer prospect polls. Assuming Benson is graduated, you probably have in some order Levi, Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund, Rosen, 2024 1st rounder ahead for sure, but in that next tier with Rousek, Neuchev, Wahlberg, Johnson, Strbak, Novikov, other 2024 picks...there's probably a real case for Komarov at the head of that group.

I wouldn’t say those guys all are “for sure” ahead. Casual voters sure, but people who are paying attention? There is some merit to thinking he is in that tier with Rosen and Kulich and we don’t know who is the ‘24 pick yet. His development has been excellent. Don’t let draft position cloud who is a strong, strong prospect.

Komarov is only the 4th defenseman to win the Playoffs MVP trophy since it was created in 1977.

1986 Sylvain Cote
2017 Thomas Chabot
2019 Noah Dobson
2024 Vsevolod Komarov
Hmmm.

Cote played 1000+ games in the NHL. Chabot's almost halfway there. Dobson is looking good long term.

Yeah, I'll take Komarov developing into one of those.
