Now to see who is bold enough to trade for him.
I always thought the Panthers made sense. They were able to quietly bring in Mike Hoffman as the story about his fiance broke. While I'm sure some fans would be upset, they probably don't have to fight the large PR battle that other teams might. From a hockey perspective, they could use RD depth behind Ekblad. They're a budget team and Voynov probably would have to sign a cheap short term contract.
At this point, I'll take pretty much any asset for free. Trade him and Martinez to Florida for their 1st.
"Now on defense...Drew Doughty and YOUR ONTARIO REIGN!"
Can someone just explain to me that if this is the Kings stance, which is fine, what took them so long to communicate that to the fans?
Kings defense is worst in the league either way
I would have liked for them to have signed him to a 2-3 year deal then move him in the off season for a nice return... but either way we’re getting something for him.. RHD are at a premium
I do not understand that line of reasoning. It implies that the NHL is actively trying to screw the Kings. He is under contract. Legal issues on the players side should not change that.Of course the one the Kings have to trade is 30 with baggage. That's even assuming he is theirs to trade. "We will now determine the impact of the arbitrator’s decision on our rights to the player" is part of their statement. I still think there's a reason this whole thing took this long; 18-19 was the season that Voynov's contract would've ended. I'm not sure the league wants the Kings to benefit from Voynov. Especially after Lombardi's practice stunt. So it might be up for debate as to whether they have his rights at all, which, only means more opaque speculation until something more concrete happens, and that might drag on for 41 games. Fun.

I commented this on the main board...
I am not saying it is happening, but it sure seems like the NHL is colluding with or threatening teams in some way to avoid Voynov...
If the Kings will still have his rights and want to trade him for any asset then why jump the gun and put out that press release.. it’s not like we haven’t had this happen before... Ziggy Palffy anyone
