This is a voting to determine the best players of the Los Angeles Kings last season and their ranking versus each other. In order to participate, send me a PM with a list of the 5 players you think were the best on your team in the order you would rank them. The point system I am going to use: 5 points for every 1st place vote, 4 points for every 2nd place vote, 3 points for every 3rd place vote, 2 points for every 4th place vote and 1 point for every 5th place vote. Please put "Los Angeles Kings" in the "Title" field of your message. The voting is open until Saturday, August 8th. You can still send in your ballot on that day. Don't complain if I don't count your vote when you send it in on Sunday 9th or later.

Rankings posted in the thread will not be considered, PMs only.

Looking for forward to your ballots!

Heh, Drew Doughty and it wasn't even close.

The 5 guys I voted for made it, ironically I didn't vote for Kopitar.

Did you just forget, or do you really think there are five people better than Kopitar on the team? If so, who? And why?

I'm surprised I'm the only person that voted for Quick.

i mean if we're being honest, last season was the Doughty show, followed by maybe Carter/Toffoli and Kopitar doing his usual thing, albeit with less goals than usual

everyone else is pretty distant in comparison, for example while he played really well in stretches, Quick still wasn't consistent enough to pull a 2012 and drag these guys to the playoffs

True Quick had a roller coaster of a year, but where would the kings last year have been without him?

I'm surprised I'm the only person that voted for Quick.

Nope; he was #5 on my list. IMHO he didn't have a great season, but he was good enough to win with far more often than not.

While I was actually executing my list, I couldn't help but think, "Is it just me, or did a good chunk of the team have a seriously down year??" Or was it just Stoll and Richards collapsing and Voynov going out was just too big a blow to overcome (or, a combination of both)...?

Based on last season alone, I felt he didn't step-up in big moments when needed late in the season, 5 goals in the last 33 games. Among other issues....

I had Doughty, then in some order Muzzin/Carter/Gaborik/Toffoli.

EDIT: I see I wasn't the only one who didn't include him.

The fact that 3 people didn't have Kopitar in their top 5 and that 2 people didn't have Carter makes me think that some of your voters should have been dropped on the basis of trolling idiocy.

This. Kopitar lead the team in scoring (again) and he wasn't one of the top 5 best players? Sheesh, tough crowd.

I had Quick as number 4...so that's at least 3 people with Quick but he's not on here.

Edit: For me top three were a slamn dunk with Drew, Carter and Kopi. My 4th was Quick and 5th was Muzzin

I felt stupid leaving Kopitar out, but that was subpaar year for him, he didn't play up to his ability and to many games he was just a gosth.

EDIT
And I had Quick too at 4th.

Like I said, trolling idiocy - you should feel stupid together with other lollipop posters...

Or not - not that other polls were any better lately...

i think you guys were watching reruns of the 2012 season

Quick's first half of 2014 was amongst one of the worst in the league for a starter

Not saying he was their top player but that he was in the top 5. The team narrowly missed the playoffs. Imagine how far back they would have been without him.

I had Quick at #3, so that should be at least 8 points (3rd = 3, 4th = 2 , 4th = 2, 5th = 1). Quick might have had a down year, but so did lots of players. Even Carter and Kopitar had long stretches of subpar play. For a while during the middle of the season, Doughty and Quick were the only players trying out there.

So either some of us sent the PM wrong, or some were missed.

Either way these results are ****
