Names is a good player but if he makes it to arbitration he might get paid more than hes worth. Which is a reason why I think TB got rid of him. That and Miller is the better player.

Only teams with some elite talent looking for a guy to play with them should even consider giving up anything of value for Namestnikov.

JT Miller was just barely producing less than Namestnikov on a terrible Rangers team with less TOI.

If you have elite talent that needs a linemate, it's worth looking into.

I think he would be worth looking into for a team like the Oilers. He's a good complementary player, could probably be acquired somewhat cheaply and would help keep Draisaitl at center.

Have fun paying the 5 years, 25+ million for Miller then watching him sit on his ass for 5 years. Thought for a couple weeks now that Namestiknov will be used to move up at the draft. Whether it's moving up from an early third to late second. Or from say 25 in the first to say 21. Something like that.

0% chance he'll get a 1st.
He's a complimentary player but you might be able to get a GM to bite on a 2nd and a prospect.

We need to give him some time to adapt to a new franchise. And skilled players are usually better in a different possession system. So I hope we have plan to resign Nam, and move Ryan Spooner for a late 1st, or an early 2nd since he has better value and almost on a ppg player since we signed him after the deadline this year.

Spooner is a much better player than Namestiknov. It's obvious. I would have zero interest in the Rangers signing Namestiknov. On a good team, he could fill a 4th line role. Maybe play some third line minutes and be a good role player. He's not needed in any way, shape or form on the Rangers.

How is he not worth a late 1st at least? His career averages are 16 goals and 37 points a season, has good shot generation and suppression numbers as well as zone entries and exits. For a playoff team in the mid to late 20's you get a guy that can play up and down the lineup and if in the right situation can put up really good numbers. Much better than waiting years hoping that pick becomes what Namestnikov already is.

Probably something close to a 2nd and a mid level prospect or similar player. He is a solid player but nothing crazy and is at the age where you wouldn't really expect any major leaps in development at this point. Teams will probably want to see him play a bit more on NYR as well just to make sure he wasn't just a product of a stacked TBL team and to see if he can carry the play a bit more before spending too much on the kid.

Imo he seems like a guy NYR would be best keeping. Shouldn't be too expensive and they will most likely be moving more guys in the offseason. He can eat up a good amount of minutes while the team rebuilds.

You can't possibly think he's worth a 1st. I wouldn't even think he's worth a 2nd. Teams should be pretty confident they can find a similar player who will be cheaper. As I said, maybe a contender will want him to put him on their bottom pairing lines. Or perhaps a team like the Oilers who have terrible scouts and need some complimentary wingers.

He was just playing and excelling on the top line of a contender lol

I agree with you. Plus the guy is 25 and a center, is pretty good defensively and can skate. I'd like to see the Rangers hold on to him. I'd like to see the Rangers resign him for 3 [email protected] per or 5 yrs@3per. If the consensus is that he is not worth even a 2nd rder, then maybe the contract I mentioned is too much?

Oilers don't have a suitable 1st, but could offer their 2018 2nd + 3rd to give NYR three picks in each of the first three rounds. Get him signed to a cheap bridge deal for 2-3 years and I bet he would excel on a line with Draisaitl.

If you want to offer your 2nd and 3rd, I hope Gorton runs away with those picks, laughing all the way.

Ratcliffe and Allison instead

You can have 1 but not both.

Both have great size and scoring touch and are safe bets to be middle six wingers with the production that goes along with that role.

I'd be willing to give you a 3rd + Ratcliffe/Allison for 4th + Namestnikov.

What say ye'?

I can see a team like Edmonton being very interested in Namestnikov. They have been looking for a winger for McDavid and Draisatl. Namestnikov has proven he can excel playing with skilled players and his possession stats are more than solid at both ends of the rink. He can be signed long-term at a reasonable contract and he has some solid skills. Could he be McDavid's Kunitz? I think so.

NYR have pick #26 as of now. Philly has #19.

Namestnikov +26 for #19?
