Yeah, that's what it looks like to me. I don't see why they'd ink him to that if the plan is to push him to the fourth line moving forward.

I wonder if they instead look for a good winger and go with Fly Lowry xxxx and Nino Name and Perfetti going into the playoffs.
It's nice to have options for shaking up the middle 6. Usually when the blender comes out, it's only the top 6 that's involved

Wouldn't surprise me to see some of both ELX/NNP and NLA/ENP down the stretch

I'm assuming it would be Apples with Ehlers and Lowry, but it could just as well be Iafallo

I think Nino-Lowry-Appleton is cemented as the 2/3 shutdown line.

I could see them adding a 2C or 2W and pushing Namestnikov and/or Perfetti to a 4th line, like they did in 2018.

If we can get Apples to sign cheap, then I’m all for keeping him, but Iafallo can go. He’ll want to much and will likely just block our youth from advancing.
The Vlad signing has me very curious of Chevys plans…hopefully he's still looking to acquire a 2C, but this signing may show that Chevy is content with Lowry at that position.

Well that line got their ass handed to them last spring. Hopefully our coaching doesn't have anything set in stone.

That is bottom-6 money for a middle-6 utility forward. If you consider the cap is likely going up 15+% over the duration of his contract it is like signing him to a $2.6M AAV contract 8 months ago.

Agree this will hold the fort until Yager is ready (if we can't find a better option) and also sets a classic Chevy value bar for upcoming negotiations.👍

I really don’t think you can go wrong with signing Vladdy at this price. The guy is a real hustler, and great 2 way player.

Even if they find a better 2 Center, they can always move Vlad to the 3rd or 4th line, and still get great value out of him. He’s also a very versatile piece, in the event of injuries. I very much like this signing. 👍

He may have got $3.5 to 4 as UFA

Next, I’d like very much to see Nik Ehlers get signed.

A bit surprised that this was the first UFA signing, but maybe it was the easiest and doesn't rock the boat in terms of salary structure. I wonder what it means for the Jets C plans, though.

Not sure it impacts their centre plans that much.

He is such a versatile player that plays the game that Arniel and the Jets need to play.

Ooor, like signing him to a $3M contact right now. 🤫
