Vladdy the baddy.

Versatile forward that can move up and down the lineup. Two years is perfect. Great mentor for Chibrikov for when he is full time with Jets.

Didn't think he'd be the first signing we would have had over last two weeks, but was without a doubt the easiest. Curious if Chevy will focus on his RFAs or UFAs.

He's managed a pretty nice Renaissance to his career here and made some decent cash to close things out here. Not at all surprised he's staying.

I wonder also what it means for a potential 2C TDL acquisition, probably nothing but it could be that they are content to just run him or Lowry in the playoffs.

I'd say it probably means they are ok with a pure rental as they have another middle 6 player inked for another couple years now.

I don't hate it. It's a good contract for a depth 3rd liner. Actually fairly respectable. I'm OK with it.
It's less than Lowry gets, who is arguably the best 3C in the league, and our captain. I don't feel like the cap increase affected this negotiation at all, 3M AAV is less than he would've got on the open market.

fair deal imo. ideally would've liked them to chase a higher caliber 2C, & while that still may be in the cards, it is also possible they may just see Namesnitkov as the team's 2C. he's done fine as a 2nd liner though, but think they still need another reliable scorer there.

Also surprised at this being the first UFA signing.

At only 3 mil, 2 years and zero trade restrictions - excellent contract. And of apples, iafallo and names - I would have preferred to sign names.

I do wonder if they wait until Winnipeg to announce an Ehlers extension - so maybe tomorrow? If there isn’t an extension announced before the deadline I will consider him gone in the offseason.

I truly expected vilardi and Samberg to be the first 2 announcements. Huh.

As RFA's with arbitration rights I'm not surprised that neither where interested in inking until the summer.

Looks like they are keeping him around to continue to be a stop gap until Lambert/Yager can take that 2C spot.

Solid player and good depth signing. Wonder what this means for Appelton/Iafallo. Probably sets the upper dollar limit for the pair.
If he's the stopgap for Lambert and Yager, that implies they are happy with him in a 2-3C role, which is interesting. Limits future opportunities for Kupari and Gustafsson, but I wonder if one of them might be trade fodder.

Yeah, that's what it looks like to me. I don't see why they'd ink him to that if the plan is to push him to the fourth line moving forward.

I wonder if they instead look for a good winger and go with Fly Lowry xxxx and Nino Name and Perfetti going into the playoffs.

why? they gave him bottom six money, they signed him because he's a good depth player that can move all around the line up, think people are reading way too much into this signing lol
