Value of: Vladislav Gavrikov

The point remains. He's a top 10 defensive player that can jump right into basically any teams lineup and play either side in a top 4 or top pairing role.

He's going to get paid. And I hope it's Columbus that does it.

"The point remains" that nobody thinks he's a top 5 defenseman besides some NFT looking twitter account that doens't think he's top 5.

Nice gotcha tho.

That isn't saying he's a top 10 Dman, it's saying he's a top 10 defensive Dman. 7-8M/season is going to be nothing if the cap rises to 120M in the next couple of years like some teams have speculated

I don't know or trust "benchrates" which does indeed have some scammy looking branding, but you assume they are the ones highest on Gavrikov's defensive play, as opposed to being just one of many people/sources that rate him highly.

There will be some likely bad years included in the deal, yes. I think teams are aware of that and some will offer it anyways.
He's the top defenseman this offseason with Chycrun gone so that might be the case, although I do wonder if a team like the blackhawks who have a ton of capspace and are desperate for good players won't go a bit of a shorter term and boost the AAV to 9.5-10M kind of like what Carolina did with Orlov. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I don't think the Blackhawks would do that - they've got Vlasic playing the same role and several other ready to go young D they'll give those minutes to. They're more of a disaster up front. But I can see several clubs with the cap space that try to go big dollar short term for the right type of guy, maybe Gavrikov. The Jackets wouldn't do that though, however much I'd like them to pitch a short term overpay.

If he makes it to market, I think this starts with an ‘8’ and not a ‘7’.

It’ll be less than Chychrun - goals pay and Chychrun is over 2 years younger. But Gavrikov’s ability to play either side and log 25+ reliable minutes a night make him a fit for virtually every team needing a top pair defensively conscious anchor. And he will be, by far IMO at this point, the Belle of the ball in free agency among blueliners with teams ready to burn newfound cap cash.

I'd probably be fine giving him 9m on Seattle, this is the kind of deal that would at least make some sense from ownerships perspective.

He’s been absolutely incredible for the Kings basically replacing Doughty and playing the most minutes on the team.

He’s racking up +17 rating and on pace for career high 40 points.

The problem is he’s a UFA at the end of the season and I don’t know if the Kings will re-sign him.

If he hits free agency, what contract are we looking for him and what teams will be in contention ?
He is 29, turning 30 in November. Even if he walks from LA, a 7 year deal takes him to 36.5 when it expires. He banked on hitting the market when his bridge deal was up. $5.875 per over 2 years. Probably could have max termed it at like $6.5 - $6.75 mill per for 8 years, or $52-$54 mill give or take.

Hanifin got $7.35 mill per last year and Chrychrun just got $9 mill per. Even if he lands in the middle at $8 mill or so per, he would have done better than just taking the max deal 2 years ago.

I’d throw ridiculous money at him to come up to NorCal. 7x$8.5-9M. He’s not quite worth it, but we’ve got nothing but cap room and zero top pair defenders. Feel like a vet Russian would be cool for Muk, Cherny, and Askarov as well.
Gavrikov would quite literally be the perfect partner for Mukhamadullin in every way possible. It would be perfect if he'd go to market.
