Do you want to make this a poll?

As for me, I think he begins the year in St. Louis until he builds up his value. It would be in his interest to perform so he can move on.

But I will pick 2 destinations that you don't have listed:

1. Florida
2. Carolina.

Both are right on the cusp. Florida gave TB a run for their money in the playoffs and Tank, if healthy is a great addition. Carolina is in the same boat for me. Both have assets and picks. Both are win now mode.

I like the way you think!

Would be nice to be a poll.

What could we get back from those two teams

Probably less then Blues fans like and more then that teams fans like.

He's also only signed for two years. It's a bit of a minefield if he signed with the same team in three years or how much he wants. Of if he is a 20-25 goal scorer, does he go down into the 5 million range? Or go to the KHL? Does he have an NMC that keeps him from being traded next year if there is no agreement for the next contract?

If he was a Canadian boy, that alone would add a value of a 3rd.

No NMC has value of a 3rd.

A third year on his contract can add value of a 1st for a 40 goal scorer or minus a second if he's a 7.5 million 20 goal scorer.

Obviously it would be a different matter if he wasn't hurt, which of course also means he wouldn't be available.

All of the above makes it complicated to come to terms for the Blues and potential trade partner. That is also why I avoid "trade value" talks in friendly forums.

did you say a 3rd for Vladdy? We’d leave him unprotected for Seattle before we’d settle for a 3rd.

Nope. Read my post about "values". The value of a third...not a third in itself.

Edit.....it's tough to compare players so a more universal approach would be a mid level teams draft choices.

So the value of a 1st is 2-3 times the value of a second, value of a 2nd is 2-3 3rds. Or a first is worth 4-6 3rds. This is from a study on the average of how many make it as NHLers based on draft position. Obviously there are also vast ranges between those values. A very top 1st is worth a lot more then 2-3 seconds.
