I briefly considered it, but then decided i'm not that much of a sicko. You're telling me you don't plan on watching the Rockies go for win #10 in Miami?

It’s crazy that Barger and Clement make less than $3 million combined, yet for some reason we thought we needed Giménez, who is worse than both of them.Monday morning defensive update:
Kirk is 3rd overall in Def (1st in AL) and 3rd overall in DRS (1 behind Narvaez) with Heineman 12th and T-9 overall
Vlad is T-11th among qualified 1B in Def and T-5 for DRS.
Clement is up to 5th in 2B Def (Gimenez is still 13th) and they are 1-2 in the AL in DRS (Hoerner has more for CHC)
Bo is still near the bottom end defensively (though he has lots of company)
Clement is 4th in 3B Def and his 2 DRS is T-13. Barger is 12th and has the same 2 DRS.
In LF, Roden is down to 3rd. Straw is 14th in Def (in 51 innings). Clase's Def is only 0.1, but he is tied for 9th in DRS.
In CF, Straw and Varsho are tied for 12th in Def. Straw is also tied for 8th in DRS.
In RF, Straw is statistically the only non-negative defender the Jays have used (for 3 innings).
Friendly reminder that the new dimensions for the Dome negatively impact the Def ratings for non-CF by a fair margin compared to other parks. For a guy like Roden (and Straw in LF), it comes down to essentially being a CF playing LF in terms of range. In LF, every guy has at least 1 DRS (except Springer in 16 innings) and Lukes has the only negative Def. In RF, Barger has 1 DRS (thanks to that one game) and the highest Def, but everyone else is 0 or slightly negative.
Nothing from what I have seen and I check a lot about prospects.Does anyone happen to know what's up with Carson Messina? He pitched 2 innings in his debut in the FCL a while ago and hasn't thrown since.
All three guys have the potential to be in the top 100 prospects at some point this year, which would be excellent.Jays seem to have done really well with the top 3 picks in 2024 draft.
Here’s hoping for a repeat this year.
To further this, if my quick napkin math is right, this win puts the Rockies on pace for a final tally of 26-136. Which is obviously significantly worse than last year's trend setting White Sox.Rockies win, now 10-50 on the season.
They have one player who is better than league average as a hitter. The rest are below. To further this, if my quick napkin math is right, this win puts the Rockies on pace for a final tally of 26-136. Which is obviously significantly worse than last year's trend setting White Sox.
I don't think i even could create a roster that badly to tank in the MLB video game, let alone IRL. holy god damn.
It's okay though, they have the metaphysical concept of Kris Bryant making 27 million dollars a year to take 40 ABs at before he breaks a fingernail and is gone for the season. They have one player who is better than league average as a hitter. The rest are below.
The worst offense and defense in the league and not a great farm system.

Toglia got sent back down if i read correctly in the last little bit so either the Rockies realized he's not ready or they just want to get him away from the dumpster fire.Call me crazy, but the offense shouldn't be this atrocious. Doyle and Toglia are surely better than this, right?? Tovar has improved his plate discipline, but underperforming all of his metrics so far, similar to Doyle. With two bombs tonight, Goodman is now over 100 wRC+ lol
It's obviously not good at their peak, but I don't think they're league worst by a mile. They should be fighting with the Pirates and White Sox for the basement at least
Pitching, as always, is a lost cause lol

But the real question is does it even matter if Tovar and Doyle were performing where their metrics say they should be? That lineup is a wasteland.

Barger – Bichette – Clement – Vlad
Where does Giménez even fit long-term?
So glad we’re on the hook to pay Giménez $23.5 million per season from 2027 to 2029. That money should be going to Bichette. What a terrible decision it was to bring in Giménez.

Jays should have just called up Loperfido instead of Roden if he's only going to start vs some RHP, not every RHP. Ernie Clement's 51 wRC+ vs RHP this season is a pretty low bar to clear.
At least with Loperfido they would be more comfortable with him defensively in the strong side of a CF platoon over Nathan Lukes while Varsho is out, and Lukes could stay in one of the OF corners.
Unfortunately for Barger, Clement has shown that he deserves it, too.Gimenez was a pre-bought Bichette replacement who will probably be the starting SS next year.
Barger should be playing every day at 3B.
Why is it so hard for organizations to run with young players when they show they deserve it?
