Blue Jays Discussion: Vladdy has signed 14 yr/500mil

Nimmala a double away from the cycle and has a walk and a sac fly to go along with that. Obviously he doesn't want Yesavage to have all the spotlight tonight
He’s having a fantastic year. I’ve read comments where he might get promoted to AA but I think they will leave him in Vancouver for majority of the year if not all of it. The organization is patient with its promotions which is a good thing.

If he maintains his current numbers, I would be disappointed if he isn't up to AA by mid-season. If the Ks were still at 30%+, I would be fine with keeping him in Vancouver through the end of the season to see if he can figure that part out. But at sub-20% without sacrificing the power (again, assuming it's still in that range later in the year) I absolutely want them to challenge him in the second half.

It sucks that we fell in the draft order cause Liam Doyle would look absolutely lethal in our rotation with Yesavage, Tiedemann, and Stephan.

How long until Shaw is up with the rest of the crew in Vancouver. He's tearing the cover off the ball this year. From BC as well. Time to come home.

MLB.com has us taking a high school shortstop whose father played in the MLB.
8. Blue Jays: Eli Willits, SS, Fort Cobb-Broxton (Okla.) HS (No. 4)
Reggie’s kid reclassified and he’s one of the youngest players in the class, which will look good in a lot of team models. He also has really good tools across the board and it’s extremely reasonable to think he’ll go higher than this.

Messina topped at 100??? I think he was at 97 before they drafted him so definitely possible.

Kiley McDaniel from ESPN updated his top fifty prospects. Nimmala was ranked 29th!

Khal Stephen starts tomorrow for Vancouver.

From what I have read, this is the guy I want the Jays to take but I doubt he drops that far.
He reminds me a lot of Jackson Holliday but with less power. I also don't think he makes it to us.

I have a feeling that if none of the front office's top guys are available we might try to cut an underslot deal at 8, so we can pay a falling 1st round talent with our next pick.

A few guys I would have interest in with an underslot deal:

Devin Taylor, OF
Brendan Summerhill, OF
Ike Irish, C
Ethan Conrad, OF
JB Middleton, RHP
Jack Bauer, LHP
Andrew Fischer, OF

Funnily enough, Summerhill's father is active on Twitter and he mentions wanting Brendan to go to the Jays or Cubs. Not sure if that means anything more (e.g. like our scouts met with his son), but interesting that he'd name check us out of all teams.

151 wRC and his K rate is below 20%. Youngest player in the league, too. It's amazing because he was doing poorly, and then they sent him to the development camp last year, and he has turned it around significantly. K rate was around 35%

Keegan sent this out, so a good chance he gets called up to AA at some point.

RJ Schreck is having a ridiculous season in AA... I know there's a bit of a logjam for playing in Buffalo, but hopefully he's there soon. He had a miserable April (.481 OPS, 34% K rate, an .027 ISO on just one extra base hit in 47 PA), but in May he has an 1.188 OPS with 7 HR in 70 PA for a .435 ISO (before going 2-4 with a BB and HR #8 tonight).

He's really ramped up the power since the trade.

I was going to post something similar. They could always trade Wil Robertson and call RJ up to AAA.

Baseball America had a podcast on prospects. Nimmala, King, and Yesavage were mentioned. Really high on all three. Concern about Nimmala is swing and miss on breaking pitches as he goes up levels. Also, they think he may have to go to 3rd base but overall the Jays should be extremely pleased with his season and he is still very young, so a lot of time to work with.

Yesavage, they were very complimentary. Mentioned a top ten talent in last year's draft. Surprised he fell that much. Now, he is closer to Hagen Smith, who was drafted 5th last year. The only concern here is, teams were hesitant to pick him because of injury concerns.

Not too much on King, but he has a lot of potential,l especially if he adds velo to his fastball.
