Blue Jays Discussion: Vladdy has signed 14 yr/500mil

Fisher is the guy we got for Cavan Biggio who is now on his 4th organization in less than a year, so that trade is looking decent. Would rather give a look to a young guy like this who is performing well in AAA over a guy like Dillon Tate and his massively-down velocity at age 31.
Came to post my sadness at DFA’ing Berroa….long time prospect who couldn’t break through here yet (one too many Lukes/Straws) despite a perfect 26th man profile and maybe top order guy on a second division team.
Fisher has some sneaky upside….hope it works out.

It's hilarious how bad this team is. Our pitcher with the most wins so far is our closer hahaha. 14 years of watching Vladdy be wildly overpaid is always something to look forward to. This team needs to be taken down to the studs.

I liked what I saw from him last year but a terrible start this year coupled with the glut of OF prospects in his age range ended up ending things here for him. Clase in particular is a very similar profile but is younger/better so there wasn't really a role for him at all.

Adrian Pinto hit 2 HR and a double last night. He's now ahead of Nimmala and tied for the Northwest League lead with 7 in just 75 PA (the guy he's tied with has 133 PA). He has very good BB and K numbers and a 161 wRC+ despite one of the lowest BABIPs in the league (.239).

He's 22, so what he's doing probably isn't as impressive as a teenaged Nimmala, but a 5'6" 2B mashing the shit out of the ball like this has to be pretty rare.

His age probably should have a bit of an asterisk because he's been injured so much the past few years - just 26 GP in 2024 and 35 in 2023. And only 47 in 2022. Would be nice to have him get a full season with 400-500 plate appearances.

Maybe they shouldn't have discarded Teoscar & Gurriel, guys that could mash. They've missed that ever since.
I get why they did it, but the problem is who they replaced them with or they didn't replace them with. I would have kept one of them.

I can somewhat understand the deal for Varsho, but they should have kept Teoscar and resigned him. He was reliable power. They got one decent year out of Swanson in that trade, last year he was garbage and hurt and this year he's just been hurt.

Giving up good assets for relievers is dumb. They can be unreliable. Better to sign them.

Yup. That was the shark jumping moment.

I was fine with sending Gurriel off in the Varsho trade. Streaky hitter, not a ton of power and being awful defensively. You put Varsho between Teo and Springer and that's more than enough to fix the defensive woes.

AAA BUFF

Tuesday, solid short start for Easton Lucas, 3ip, 1er, 3ks - not sure why it was short.

Wednesday, Joey Loperfido had a game: 3-4, 4 ribbies, HR and SB. Babe hit a dinger too.

Thursday, the Bisons put up 10 runs and lose. Multi hit games for Wagner and Loperfido. Riley Tirotta and Ali Sanchez continue to rake, both having multi-hit games AND going yard.

AA NH

Wednesday, Fisher Cats split a doubleheader. CJ Van Eyk, 7inning CG, 6k, 1er for the win, RJ Scheck hit a 3b for 2rbi. Jace Bohrofen 2-3 with a 3b, 2b, bb and 2rbi in a losing cause.

A+ VAN

Tuesday, Adrian Pinto hits his 5th dinger. JWB got knocked around.

Wednesday, mighty mite Pinto did a bunch more damage: 3-4, 3rbi, bb, 2b and 2hr’s including his organization leading 7th. If only this guy could stay healthy.

Thursday, Fernando Perez tosses his finest game of the year, 6ip, 5h, 0bb, 1er, 3ks for the win. Sean Keys (3-4 with 2x2bs and hr) and Carter Cunningham (3-4 with 2hrs) led the offence.

A DUN

Tuesday, put 12 runs on the board….and lost. Beltre, Chirinos and Arnold HRs. Sam Shaw, 1-4, 4 runs, HR, BB.

Wednesday, the Yesavage-Stanifer tandem remained dominant: 2hits 1er 3bb and 14k’s combined. Sam Shaw 2-4 with a hr and bb - this kids pretty good.

Thursday, overcame a rare shaky start from Cody Holcombe. Devonte Brown (recently demoted I guess) led the offence going 2-4 with a HR and 4rbi. Daniel Guerra was solid in relief to get the win, 3 so ip, 3ks.

A FCL

Tuesday, Adam Macko and Ryan Burr both return to action - good sign.

Thursday, more rehab…this time (sneaky good) Chris McIllvain tossed 3 so ip. Also of note, Carson Messina made his pro debut. Emmanuel Bonilla 1-5 with 4ks.

Yesavage is pretty clearly way too good for A ball and can't be spending much longer in Dunedin, you wouldn't think.

Devers doesn't sound happy in Boston.... does not want to play 1st, I am sure he isn't happy about being moved off the corner... it's only money. Trade for him and keep Vlad happy. Jack my phone bill up another couple dollars to help out Rogers.

There’s gonna be a lot of upward movement with pitchers I’d think.
Across the a-ball teams at least.

Based on what he's showing you'd like to see Yesavage in New Hampshire by July, I'd think. If they knew he was going to be this dominant I suspect they would have sent him to Vancouver to start the year instead with the benefit of hindsight.

Stanifer will probably move up fairly quickly as well.
