Blue Jays Discussion: Vladdy has signed 14 yr/500mil

That’s the guy I was talking about.
Hot streak? Finally healthy? Who knows.

His third makes a career high btw.

Quiet night on the farm yesterday.

AAA BUFF were shutout. Michael Stefanic had the only three hits.

AA NH got thumped. Peyton Williams went 2-5, OPS 839

A+ VAN went off for 13 runs in the win. Joey Barry 2-5, OPS 1.149. Victor Arias 2-5 with a 2b and sb. Cutter Coffey had a hr and sb. Nice balanced deep lineup actually, even with a Nimmala day off. Starter Jackson Wentworth was fine but didn’t through 5. 4.1ip, 2er, 8k.

A DUN took it on the chin. Highlight was Gilbert Batista’s 4 so innings in relief. Not sure where Sam Shaw is….hurt maybe?

He picked a weird hill to die on.

Friday on the Farm:
AAA lost both ends of the double header. Not sure what’s happening with the bats. Homers for Bethancourt and Nunez
AA NH picked up the win. Jace Bohrofen 2-4 with 2bombs - ops 857. And don’t look now, but Josh Rivera has his ops up to 645 after a 2-3 day with a dinger
A VAN took the loss. Watts Brown was okay. Victor Arias hit a HR and has an OPS of 883.
A DUN won with a balanced attack. Yunei Munoz continues his heater, hitting a bomb for the fourth game in a row. Impressive one for Manuel Beltre: 1-2 with 3bb. Less impressive: picked off and caught stealing. But the eye and approach might be improving

Good performances on the farm yesterday.
AAA BUF rare win; personal fave Trenton Wallace had his best performance of the year, 4.1 shutout inning, 6ks, just 3 bb+h. Coming around, command still a thing. Two homers for Ali Sanchez, one for Riley Tirotta. Signs of life from OMart, 2-4 with a 2b. Two hits for Clase, Berroa.
AA NH won. Rafael Sanchez solid 1er in 5ip, tidy clean 4 bullpen innings. Yohendrick Pinango went 4-4 with a 3b. Jace Bohrofen 2-5. Eddison Paulino hit his first bomb.
A+VAN took it on the chin. Best performance from another personal fave, lefty Kai Peterson tossing 2so innings with 3ks. Gotta tighten his command.
A DUN got the big start from Trey, but he was followed by an electric Gage Stanifer @canucksfan fave: 4so ip 7ks and just 3bb+h to earn the win. Offence came from older organizational guys, led by Bryce Arnold’s two homer day. Yunei Munoz hr streak ended, but had 2rbi going 1-3 with a bb.

Romano keeps making the Jays bullpen decisions look better. I guess he's fallen to a mop-up duty role... yesterday he came in with a seven run lead in the 9th and allowed six runs on six hits (a pair of 3-run shots) and the Phillies had to go to Alvarado to get the last out and hang on for the win.

Vladdy's been doing just fine despite the lack of HRs. Would be nice if Santander stopped throwing his PAs away though.
Funny you mention Vlad;

The biggest issue to me, as someone else pointed out on social media is it looks like Vladdy still has no protection. They're nibbling the strike zone because the guys behind him at the moment are zero threat to anybody. Santander hasn't been great (slow starter, i know, but i'm just saying), Gimenez is absolutely not a cleanup hitter. The fact he still had 2 hits today + 2 walks shows he's doing what he can.

That's going to need to change in a relatively short order. I think if you're Schneider you either slide Springer into the four hole or perhaps even put him back in leadoff while Bo moves into cleanup. Bo's not hitting for power either but at least he can put the ball in play with consistency given he's second in the AL for hits. Realistically probably the first one since you don't want to send a message to Bo that makes him think he sucks rn.

They're getting outhomered 31-12 and that has the potential to get worse with the Astros and Yankees next up.

Here's an article on Stanifer. Might jump up on the prospect rankings, especially if he continues to do well.

Affiliates got broomed yesterday.
AAA BUF Jake Bloss took the L, but was encouraging. 4.1 ip, 7k, 0er. Riley Tirotta hit a bomb, JClase 1-4 with a pair of swipes.
AA NH got shutout. Quality start for Ryan Wataon. Pinango had a pair of base knocks.
A+ VAN got knocked around. SP Fernando Perez didn’t record an out. Cutter Coffey was 2-4.
A DUN SP Cody Holcombe was solid in the loss. Kendry Chirinos and Manuel Beltre had two hits.

At what point do you make drastic changes to the offense? This is truly pathetic. It’s only been years of the same junk and it’s the worst it’s ever been right now. Can’t win if you have no power.

Not to be too negative, but it takes a special kind managerial talent to assemble a team with a top-5 payroll that doesn't have a clean up hitter or any sort of MLB calibur starting pitching beyond your starting 5.

And we haven't even ran into major injury troubles yet, where our lack of depth/AAA ready talent will be exposed.
