Blue Jays Discussion: Vladdy has signed 14 yr/500mil

Man the nl west division is crazy. The diamondbacks have the same 11 7 record to start as the Yankees who lead the al east. Problem for them is that they are in 4th in the nl west lol. That division is bonkers

Every team in the AL West has a negative run differential

needed to be done. That fairytale is pretty much over at this point. I'll guess he'll be moved for a pen arm at some point later in the season or as part of a package for something bigger.
I'm comfortable giving him a bit of rope in AAA to see if he can recapture some semblance of offense, but I don't feel great about it.

It would be nice to have one good right-handed bat on the bench, but Schneider isn't it right now, to the point that they're better off just letting the opponent have the lefty-lefty matchup and hoping for the best.

Also, they're not likely to face a lefty starter for at least a week, so carrying an extra left-handed bat isn't a bit deal.

Lotsa thump on the farm yesterday.
AA NH put up 10 runs. Bohrofen went 3-4 with another HR and got his OPS north of 700. McAdoo 2-4. Peyton Williams had a solo shot.
A+ VAN won 5-2. Offense was led by catcher Aaron Parker who hit a home run and…..stole home base! Grant Rogers was very strong - 5ip, 0er, 2bb+h and 7ks.
A DUN exploded for 18 runs. Manuel Beltre had 3 hits. Homers by Arnold Duran and Munoz. Khal Stephen tossed five shutout innings with 5ks.

Assuming we're in a playoff spot near the trade deadline, this team badly needs to acquire a big time bat

I appreciate the faith and what he showed in his flash is reason for you to have it. I’d love to see him finally adjust but he just doesn’t seem able to do it. Fingers crossed but I’m happy we aren’t wasting the roster spot. He’s not exactly great defensively to off set his bat.

Jazz Chisholm got thrown out of the game last night for arguing a strike 3 call then blasted the umps on social media (before deleting his post).

Here's the Pitch F/X of his strike 3:

Interesting prospect to track.
Yeuni Munoz
21 yr old RHH OF
Fifth year in the system, slow burn, never much performance to get too excited about, no idea if injuries have played a part.
But in his first 4 years, he totalled 373 abs over 115 games, and hit 5hr.
This year is 9 games, 31abs and 3hr and 3 doubles.
Maybe a late bloomer. Fun to watch anyway.

Jays are 7th in hitter fWAR but 16th in runs. 6th best OBP and 25th best hard hit ball rate. They are an average team in Average and OBP with RISP and 24th in slugging. Basically, the advanced stats say that the team has been relatively unlucky in terms of scoring but that the power is in line with the contact profile.

Adding any power will obviously quickly improve run scoring, but a little bit more patience with RISP will also dramatically improve their results (part of the problem is likely that a lot of the AB are happening with guys coming up in these scenarios who may not be with the club in a few weeks unless they heat up).
Jays will be in on Robert imo. Everyone assumes he goes to the Dodgers but if the Jays are anywhere near a playoff spot they’re going to be very aggressive. It’s very clear now with Vladdy locked for the next 14 years that there’s no time to waste. If you’re going to spend 500 million on a single player the goal is going to be all in every year whether that’s in free agency or deadline. Atkins and co. Got the green light to spend and I wouldn’t expect anything else then this team being very aggressive in all areas to contend for the forseeable future. Jays have a ton of money coming off the books and a lot of question marks going into next winter and Robert has 2 team friendly options left on his contract. He will cost a ton in a trade but he is the kind of bat that would instantly turn this team into a real contender.

Question will be where you would play him but you figure that out after. He’s struggling early but his power is undeniable, he would rake at the Rogers Centre

Orelvis is blowing a chance. Jays would love to have a good right-handed hitter who hits lefties well, but he has been struggling a lot in AAA. 50% k rate so far!

He did have a slow start last year as well.
A 50% k rate is f***ing wild I can’t lie. His power is undeniable but holy smokes he’s gotta get that k rate down by a ton
